Hello, thanks for tuning in, and welcome to 'Wanderers of the Megacity', our program dedicated to the exploration of the fascinating lives of Procyon alveare, or hive raccoons, as we commonly know them. 

In this immersive VR episode, we will take a look at the daily lives of the hive raccoons. Hive raccoons, in a gaze of four to five, will often venture downwards beyond the relatively safe nesting grounds of the upper-level superstructures. While their journey downward into the bottomless pits of the hive cities and arcologies around the world, our furry friends are always on the lookout for scrap electronics and discarded technology, where it is most abundant. Hauling away scrap from the lower levels and traversing the numerous hidden dangers is a harrowing task. Hive raccoons must remain vigilant against hive city eradication patrols, bushmeat hunters, wild dogs, and the occasional gaggle of orphans or youths who don't know better than to throw rocks and other garbage at these "trash pandas". 

Nevertheless, hive raccoons will carry on with their clandestine activities in the lower levels. Often times, gazes will move in step, akin to a four person squad of mercenaries, checking the corners and keeping a high level of situational awareness. Bushmeat hunters, with their night scopes, TAC headsets, and motion drones, will often return to their wasteland outposts empty handed without meat and fur, due to the propensity for hive raccoons to literally vanish from sight once detected.

For those that didn't know, Kendrick is back! So what better way to kick off this month's selection with him riding the beat like a don in standout track Lust?

 From there we continue to go from strength to strength. Odd future's Syd and Steve Lacy have both recently released solo material and feature. Tom Misch's 5 day challenge created strong tracks throughout, but it is the collaboration with upcoming MC Novellist that really encapsulates Misch's all conquering evolution and for those that don't know Soulection regular J.Robb is king of the edit. His sultry re-working of Sexy Back sounds like a weed infused late night Kaytranada bootleg and is all the better for it!

Karizma's 'Work It Out' has been on heavy rotation on dance floors everywhere of late, but fellow Lumberjack In Hell Marcel Vogel's b-side 'I Got Jesus' is also genius so it makes an appearance along with new material from Seven Davis Jr and Lord Echo as well as superb remixes from Elderbrook and Natureboy Flako.

Leaving the land of House we go deep with melodic cuts from the likes of Olaf Stuut, Vessels as well as the return of Lone and Dauwd. The latter recently announcing the release of his debut album on Ninja Tune later this year.

Last but not least, Max Cooper and Christian Loeffler are two of the most distinctive creators of atmosphere in electronic music today. Loeffler recently offered up a gem for the remix version of Cooper's Emergence and closing out this month Max Cooper returns the favour with an utterly sublime remix of 'Vind'. For this one I recommend you put on the headphones and prepare to do some arm chair flying.

Chicago DJ and producer Chrissy is set to launch his new label Cool Ranch, an outlet that will focus on the classic house of his native city.

Following releases on Classic, Freerange, Razor & Tape and La Mission, Chrissy takes a break from his duties running his label The Nite Owl Diner to launch Cool Ranch. The Smartbar resident now plans to deliver the raw essence of house on white label, limited, hand-stamped, vinyl-only releases via the new imprint.

On the inaugural release titled 'Cool Ranch 001', Chrissy delivers two originals, one of which is a slamming house track titled ‘We Ain't Goin Nowhere’. It’s a catchy disco-tinged melody, one that will undoubtedly inject life into any dancefloor.

When discussing the vision behind Cool Ranch, Chrissy revealed that it’s mainly about feel-good tracks: “This record, and the new label as a whole, are all about fun, happy-sounding party cuts. With all the negativity and too-cool-for-school posturing in the dance music scene, and the ever-darkening political climate weighing down on us all, sometimes it feels really important to have songs that sound joyous and positive and resilient, yknow?”

'Cool Ranch 001' is set for release on May 5 and also includes a remix from rising Detroit producer Pontchartrain.

Seven Davis Jr. is a singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. Known for releasing various genres of music fusing Dance, Trip Hop, Funk and Soul. 

Referred to as “Sev” by his fans and followers. He is a rogue creative, working with a diverse range of artists (like John Cale, Honey Dijon most recently) behind the scenes in between his own projects. 

He released “Stranger Than Fiction”, his most successful album to date on his own label Secret Angels. Which won the German Record Critics Award for Best New Releases of 2024. His 2025 alias downtempo album titled Mean Bacharach "Sacrifice", was highly rated by Pitchfork. 

He released “Is This The Apocalypse" (EP) on Valentine’s Day 2025. An interlude to his new album titled the “Don’t Crash Out Challenge” out now on all platforms and vinyl.
