This is logical, this is a progression... The original and still one of the best sets around, LTJ's about to touch down. After much confusion I finally found the original 1996 version of LTJ's seminal Logical Progression 2 CD release. This is the mixed set (CD-B). Intelligent DnB at its finest. I've been looking for this set for a long time but have never been able to find it online, only the 2001 re-released version where the mixed CD was replaced with the 'Ministry of Sound Half A Decade Of Dance' 96 live set and different tracks on the un-mixed CD. I brought a 2nd hand copy from Discogs.com. I will do a mix using the tracks on the unmixed CD (CD-A) when I get some time.

No infringement of copyright is intended, I'm assuming it's ok to make this available to download as it's not possible to buy this new anymore. If there is a problem with copyright let me know and I'll remove it. 

As always, all props to the artists, producers n engineers that made these tracks, nuff respect to all the Goodlooking family.

This is a reissue of a short-lived and obscure UK dance music label. A compilation of tracks featured on releases across 3 EP’s between 1991 and 1993 incorporating recently emergent dub techno and progressive acid house sounds. Nation of Noise was conceived in the early 90's, following a meeting of minds between the producer Django and vocalist Jon Martin at the legendary Soho institution: The Brain. 

Plate 1 is a fully remastered reissue of the first Nation of Noise record - Xes Noiz, featuring 4 locked grooves. 

Plate 2 takes two tracks off both the Lockgroove and Super Bubble EP's. One side is smooth, after-hours deep house whilst the other reaches for two progressive, acid cuts. 

Fun facts: 

- Feel the Joy received airtime by Jon Peel on Radio 1 and Elvis Stole My Space Hopper was a favourite of Colin Faver and Colin Dale on KISS FM 
- Kris Needs awarded Xes Noiz record of the week in NME, putting it in the same group as Weatherall and Aphex! 
- Riley Reinholdt raved about Xes Noiz in legendary German publication Spex and travelled to U.K. to interview Jon and Django. 
- Piano Tilt was a playlist favourite of Derrick May 
- Progressive acid house pioneers like Scott Hardkiss began lauding the Nation of Noise imports on the West-Coast sound systems of the San Francisco Bay Area. 
- The A3 of Xes Noiz was a minor hit on the emerging jungle/breakbeat scene. DJ's used to pitch it up before Metalheadz and Photek really defined that abstract sound.

Previews of our second reissue; SHRR02 is a 2-track compilation EP consisting of music released by Ronan Ó Cíosóig on One Louder Recordings throughout 2001-2002. A peculiar and short-lived Irish label, One Louder Recordings only released two records, both of which are now highly sought after and practically begging to be repressed. Remastered for both a vinyl and digital 2018 release we hope to make this music accessible again, both to those who've yearned for a copy for years and to those who are just hearing it now for the first time.

Subconscious Threat combines haunting melodies, cavernous warehouse-rave bass, and a hypnotic skipping tech house groove throughout it's expertly crafted 6 minutes of run-time, this 2018 re-edit (edited by Ronan himself), switches the quick-fire kick drums of the original for a straighter four-on-the-floor pattern, utilises some sharper hi-hat and snare action, and reduces the pace slightly - more suitable for the generally slower house & techno sets played by DJ's today compared to the 90's. On the flip, and taking a more light-hearted turn, the slowed-down 2018 re-edit of Simpleton utilises its bouncing minimal framework to create a slightly more abstracted and playful mood. Both tracks work very well on the dancefloor, and have been receiving playtime from a few high-profile DJ's over the past decade or so.

We're pleased to be reissuing 3 sought after tracks from Glyn Bush's mid 90s side project Airgoose, perhaps better known as part of Brummie dub/reggae-techno group Rockers Hi-Fi, Outernational Wah shot up in price recently following a resurgence in its popularity symptomatic of the current trend of digging old obscure records. Extreme amounts of sleaze on this dusty, strange deep house track, with some very unique production make Outernational Wah a timeless dance-floor bomb, finally getting the recognition it deserves. The flip side, Programmable Rhythmer (Top Gear Mix) is taken from the only other record made under the Airgoose alias, similarly weird, raspy synth lines and a deep plodding groove.

For its second release, Radiant Love sticks to family values. Paying homage to the party and label’s co-director and resident Byron Yeates, Byron’s Theme comes from the likes of Vani-T (one half of Berlin’s forceful, femme party Climax) and D. Tiffany (who threw down a ruthless remix on the label’s first release by Fio Fa). Together, they take the name of Pillow Queen – a semi-pejorative term for the kind of sub who expects to receive pleasure like a well catches rainwater. No reciprocation, just a reign of sexual passivity.



Their tracks, however, give plenty. “Byron’s Theme” presents a rich palette in its 2-minute buildup: a dry trance hook, high-end synths buzzing and wavering, pitch-shifted voice samples and a pan-flute ran through with tremolo. Throbbing, the 303 bassline picks up after a breakdown at the 4-minute mark, and only then does one realise the song’s still building. There’s still room in the last 40 seconds for some percussion modeled on a breakbeat loop – which is to say, the track is incredibly cheeky and hard-hitting – all that I would hope for in any lover.



While the EP’s first track feels wide, rangy, “Estrel Nights” opens the EP’s B-side in a much closer, tighter space. The build is percussive: bongo taps, claps, cowbell; then a hi-hat snaps things into shape, and in lopes the kick drum. And rhythm remains the central player here. It’s not until 3 minutes in that the percussion finds a melodic backdrop – a dreamy, detuned pad, choral, like a moan.



Ex-Terrestrial’s remix of “Byron’s Theme” repositions some of the elements and ratchets up the tempo of the original, but maintains its respiration: the energy and erotics flow into a different structure, closer to traditional trance, with sharp hi-hats and loopy arpeggios that phase in and out of syncopation, measure to measure. Diagonal, we incline to a climax that dizzily plateaus at 6 minutes, de-escalates and breaks down over the next 2, glows until it’s just a kick drum, slower, slower still; we’re catching our breath.

Knoxville, Tennessee producer Nikki Nair is the latest signing to Barely Legal’s Pretty Weird Records. Having previously made outings on Scuffed Recordings and Gobstopper, where Nikki Nair experimented with the human voice on his ‘Morphism’ EP, his latest offering finds him playing with bass stabs and old movie samples. ‘Scuzzy’ is one of two tracks on a double single coming out on Pretty Weird this Friday, and on it Nikki Nair flexes his percussive muscles with rude flair, with early support coming from the likes of Four Tet and Ben UFO.

Dutch DJ and producer, Coco Bryce, makes his Lobster Theremin debut with an incredible offering of jungle, hardcore and broken beats that conjure up feelings of warm, nostalgic euphoria. Over 25 years in the game, recently it feels Bryce is unstoppable - unleashing killer cuts on Dead Man’s Chest’s Western Lore, 7th Storey Projects and Fresh 86. Nodding to the sound of the Netherlands he was enamoured with in the 90’s - hardcore, gabber, breakbeat - and channelling the spirit of the UK hardcore scene; Lobster Theremin imprint LT White is the perfect home for this extremely vibesy, playful EP. 

Title track, ‘Ma Bae Be Love’ sees saccharine sweet vocals, bouncy broken beats and jungle energy come together - an uplifting cut you’ll want to keep on loop. A2, ‘Blue Tile Lounge’ marries intricate drum patterns full of sunkissed grooves, with warm pads and uplifting vox lines. On the flip, ‘Smoke Screen’ reaches further into hardcore terrority with acid lines bubbling up, frantic percussion and whirlpool electronics swirling throughout, with timeless rave references - watch ya bass bins! Finally, ‘Get Schwifty’ is a total crusher. Hectic, old skool jungle that still sounds fresh as hell, one to shake the floor to the core, a total stonker!

There is not much information to be found online about Bliss Inc., whose Hacking the Planet EP comes out on Radiant Love this summer. Beyond the fact they’re named Alexander and hail from Saint Petersburg, the project is cryptic – somehow this is fitting for a set of songs that could’ve fallen out of an obscure 1994 catalogue. This is the year of Robert Leiner’s Visions of the Past, Opus III’s Guru Mother, and Paul Oakenfold’s BBC-1 Essential Mix: an aesthetic region in which tech and new age spirituality braid together, a time before this synthesis reached Silicon Valley; while it still lingered in the rave, incredibly sincere, everything sounded kind of wet, and the efficiency of spirit was means to no end but a state of bliss.

What keeps Hacking the Planet from falling into pure nostalgia is its tuning – the palette of 1994 has been lifted and run through a delicate sensibility. The title track is a piece of buoyant, airy trance, with orbiting filters and a set of loopy, very vocal synths. It bumps along at 130 BPM, but feels slower because of the ease and clarity with which the track progresses. “Infinite” has got the aquatic motifs and soft, panning cymbals of a set-opener, or a comedown jam. The break that swings in after a minute-thirty feels less like a punctuation than another stream of sonics joining the flow. Picking up the pace a little, “Transitions” opens with a whir that could issue from a field of crickets or a stack of hardware. The entrance of the bassline was the first moment in this EP one could call nasty. But its drive and weight is also tempered, played against by a clever drum break, a run of piano keys, and the ethereal reverb-washed vocal sample we expect in a piece of classic mid-90’s trance – absent, however, is any kind of signalling to Goa, “exoticism” or indigenous aesthetics. (1994 was also the year of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Les Tatouages collection, which, for all its romantic nomadism and deft tailoring and syncretic spirit, has no need of a 2020 update).

Bliss Inc.’s songs stream, rather than track – one gets a sense that the elements flow in and out rather than ride a structure. Sansibar, who provides a remix of “Hacking the Planet” to round out the EP, is solidly a producer of tracks: often electro-derived ass-shaking material that hits, and hits in recognisable sections that progress serially. His version of the title cut brings in a hefty acid baseline, jungle-style stretched vocals, and kicks out of the 4/4 grid. But let there be no mistake, this is a producer also quite capable of coaxing delicacy out of hardware. The chimes of the lullaby-like breakdown halfway through the remix sound like nothing but a ghost in the machine.

2019 was the year of breakthrough for Amsterdam-based talent and De Lichting staple Eversines. Continuing on his ascension, we’re chuffed to welcome him to the fold with ‘Plooi’ – a stupendous mini sonic odyssey of sorts, taking us from vaporous skylines to brightly hued seascapes. Both captivatingly melodic and kinetic to the full, the four tracks composing the backbone to Eversines’ new jaunt into elegiac dance territories work their magic in the gap betwixt zen-like atmospherics, velveteen acid, sun-bleached electro and chiseled breaks that step up to the plate.

Whilst the OG version of ‘Plooi’ eases us into a shape-shifting environment, swinging the pendulum between nu-age infused / Sino-flavoured harmonics, lysergic bass phrasing and muscular breaks straight out the UK rave scene’s heyday, the remix from De School resident DJ Oceanic alters the original into a subaquatic dub weapon, navigating its way across frothing and bubbling synth lines to emerge in geysers of thermal bleeping and rhythmic outbursts. A more jacking affair, ‘Efbol’ carves out a lane of its own in between angular techno and playful, retro-laced electronica a la KLF meets James Holden in his ’Idiots Are Winning’ days. Completing the set on a more understated note, ‘Missing’ in collaboration with RDS promises to fill your headspace with thoughts of beauty and quiet. Merging FX-dipped piano chords, laid-back junglism and heavily verbed-out envelopes to form a well unique piece of ambient lushness, Eversines ushers us into a world of vibrant musical rapture, nestling away from standardized tropes and patterned behaviours.

Word is spreading fast that the powerful and long-feared Agamid lizard known by many as Reptilius has been sighted building a dangerous army on the outskirts of Squamata, exhausting the forests natural resources and leaving previously thriving, culturally significant and beautiful areas decrepit and lifeless in a greedy, capitalistic move to gain control. 

Completely unaware of this, Reptant returns home to X’trapolis after spending 5 years conducting extensive research on Earth’s unique analogue technology. 

With his esteemed Lizard Tech Militia stuck back on Earth, Reptant finds himself alone and must seek help from the infamous Gecko Force if he wishes to succeed in protecting his home. 

The Gecko Force are a lounge of superior prehistoric native Gecko’s rumoured to have been some of the only survivors from the brutal Agamid colonisation of X’trapolis which occurred many generations ago. 

With their power and extensive knowledge of X’trapolis, the planet and all of its delicate and precious lifeforms just might stand a chance...

Legendary UK dub techno pioneers Glyn 'Bigga' Bush and Richard Whittingham aka Rockers Hi-Fi, originally formed in 1992 in Birmingham. Rockers Hi-Fi gained a cult following in the early years of dub-techno and soundsystem culture with their psychedelic, bass-heavy blend of dub, house, techno, beats and drum & bass.

Rockers Hi-Fi first met when Dick was putting on nights in Brum whilst working as a carpenter, after Glyn needed work doing on his house, the pair got chatting. One thing led to another and they eventually set up a studio in Glyn's living room, where the majority of the first Rockers Hi-Fi album was recorded. Following a signing at Island Records in '93, the pair expanded to a studio above a piano store in the centre of Birmingham. 

A lot of these tracks presented here were influenced by musical outfits like Mo Wax, Metalheadz, Shut Up & Dance, Scientist, and King Tubby. Glyn's and Dick's music also heavily sampled 90's hip-hop, and the classic New York house sound i.e. Kenny Dope, Bobby Konders, Nervous Records & Strictly Rhythm. Not forgetting the Birmingham Diskery, a record store where the pair found plenty inspiration amongst film soundtracks, spoken word LP's and other obscure records which became part of the Rockers sound.

We're pleased to present a selection of tracks from their formative years, mainly encompassing the club ready, dancefloor centred part of their discography. This reissue LP includes a mixture of sought after bangers, as well as some lesser known tracks which people may not have heard.
