Definitely not a relaxing journey here but should be halloween party proof!

At the controls of the next Voyage to Plantera is a long time source of inspiration to ourselves, Tywi - or as we more fondly know him as, Eben.

One of the brains behind 'Haŵs' - the Cardiff based label and party series which since inception has impressed in all corners of the globe. Eben has consistently pushed sounds that resonate with us here at Plantera HQ.

Whether that be curating dancefloor journeys with his extensive wax collection or through mind-warping productions - namely his recent four-track slammer 'Reality Checkpoint' released on Belfast imprint, Duality Trax.

Next up is Amsterdam based artist Caim. The Dutch native has been making waves with both his characterful DJ sets and elegant productions. Resident at Amsterdams infamous Breakfast Club and label boss at Lonely Planets Rec, he's becoming a large figure in the Dutch underground. 

For this mix, he's dug a little deeper into his bag and provided us with just over 2 hours of craftily woven prog, techno and trance tribalings. Enjoy the ride!

@Moopie joins us for the mix series this week. Beijing-born, Melbourne-based, the A Colourful Storm label founder and NTS Radio resident has fast become one of dance music's most hotly tipped DJ's. Recent b2b's with the likes of Helena Hauff and Ben UFO attest to his serious pedigree. For DIM 296, we find Moopie in groovy form, running an array of lush house and breaks over 65-minutes.

For the 20th installment in our Digest series we're pleased to present a mix we’ve wanted to record for a long time between Dan from Seven Hills and Matt C from @linalerecords

In the early to mid 90’s amongst the experimentation and flurry of creativity in electronic music there was a sub-genre emerging in the midsts of the fast-paced euphoria and Goa sounds of the southwestern Indian coast. A branch of downtempo which had the psychedelia of trance, the grooves and deepness of trip-hop, and the futurism and weirdness of IDM.

Appearing as occasional one-offs at the end of an album or on the B-sides of much faster records, these tracks were often overlooked, they didn't fit easily into typical trance sets and it seemed the intention was more for home listening. 10+ mins of runtime wasn’t unusual, which was time for the music to breathe and develop into something really special.

We think some of the best music of the era was in this halfway point between lounge music and dance, it was a way for producers to experiment with music not fully intended for the dance-floor. This intersection of dub, breakbeats, ambient, and experimental music led to some really interesting sounds, which we wanted to showcase here with this mix.

Just under 2 hours of downtempo experimentation, including some of our all-time favourites from the last 30 or so years. This is our music for acid trips, the ends of long days and nights, the after-party after the after-party. Also includes some newer bits that we think have the right attitude!

Denmark has been an absolute hotbed for high quality producers and DJ's of late. Since the first Regelbau release in 2014, there has been a constant stream of talent for us to discover. 

It seems there is a true community supporting each other through collaboration, distribution, and mentoring. 

DJ Popup has been making serious waves since the launch of their NES label. A fresh outlook on house music that is both forward thinking yet subtly nodding to the past and those that paved the way. 

I was delighted when I received this mix. Good honest house music put together with care and attention.
