This is the second track from my "Afterglow" EP on Pablo Bolivar's excellent label Seven Villas Music. 

This track was inspired by regular trips to the park with my young son once the lockdowns and COVID restrictions lifted last year. It was always great to get out of the house, get some fresh air and be in nature. Once we arrived at the park, he would light up, hence the title "Luminous Park".

Smash the Rabbit Hole - Against Antisemitic Conspiracy Theories in Club Culture

In the depths of the digital rabbit hole, antisemitic conspiracy theories and disinformation are spreading rapidly, and club culture has not been spared. On 7 October 2023, Hamas committed the largest antisemitic massacre since the Shoah in Israel, murdering 1,200 innocent people, including hundreds of Nova Festival visitors. Many in the club scene remained silent, showing no solidarity with the victims—or worse, propagate anti-Israeli and antisemitic content. Artists who have not been sharing political content in the past, are now adopting one-sided, supposedly pro-Palestinian narratives that often contain antisemitic patterns. These narratives portray Israel as a colonial aggressor, reinforcing radicalisation and leading to the general condemnation of Jewish identities and Zionism. This ideology masquerades as anti-colonial and emancipatory, while in reality, it trivializes and partly glorifies antisemitism.

Furthermore, BDS-related voices in the international and German club scene are calling for a boycott of cultural venues such as Berghain, HÖR Berlin, Conne Island Leipzig, and others, for addressing antisemitism. These calls for boycotts, labeled as an “expression of solidarity with Palestine,” threaten important spaces of cultural exchange financially and damage their reputation. Instead of focusing on mutual understanding, they harden the fronts between “pro-Palestinian” and “pro-Israeli” positions and divide the scene.

So consider asking yourself: what about the artists that I follow? It's a black hole. Hard-won, rather leftist “principles” against antisemitism are being fundamentally questioned. People think that's progressive. Jewish people are incoherently placed under general suspicion, and Zionism, the right to a self-determined Jewish life in the ancestral homeland, is labeled as new fascism.

This mixtape sends a clear signal against these developments. It is a call to question antisemitic narratives, protect free spaces, and fight hate and disinformation. Smash the rabbit hole.

In a way, dance floors are free places. Music connects and builds bridges, beyond origin and language. Everyone is welcome as long as they respect each other.

Seven Villas names a group of villages situated on east Cantabria - Spain. Known for its monuments from the XVI and landscapes, those villages saw how Pablo Bolivar grew up at the same time he developed his passion for music and his homeland.

Today, Seven Villas becomes his personal project, a platform specially created to publish music that match his definition of "Musica para Estar", introducing new talented artists and combining their original works with interpretations by his favourites underground artists.
