They came up from Portsmouth—Nick and Darren Mears—two brothers wired on groove and grit. Since 2007, Da Funk Junkies have been churning out house cuts soaked in disco sweat and funked-up swagger. Their name’s now stitched into the fabric of the Jackin’ House scene. With releases on Groove Culture, Spacedisco, and their own DFJ Recordings, they’ve clocked No. 1s and burned up the Traxsource charts. In 2024, they hit #236 in the Top 500. No signs of fatigue.

Whatcha Do grabs your attention like a demanding mistress, spins it, and throws it into the heat of a dancefloor reverie. It’s where disco’s velvet pulse meets house music’s driving soul, glazed with a jackin’ house shimmer that lifts it skyward. A funk-infused male vocal cuts through like streetlight on wet pavement. It’s like a jolt, a swagger, a groove with something to prove.

My hour started off nice and funky, quickly built up the tempo to cram in a few promos, and ended up with a few dusty disco belters north of 130BPM. Fun times!

I was lucky to snag a very special guest for the second hour. French DJ, singer, composer, multi instrumentalist, producer and audio engineer David Baluteau AKA Joi N’Juno. He’s another one of my favourite producers, specialising in funky, danceable tunes with African influences. His mix is bloody brilliant - lots of tropical sunshine sounds, some solid nu-disco and housed up worldwide oddities, with a few of his own in there, including a bit of unreleased stuff. Loved every minute of this one, and I hope you enjoy it too.

we‘re honored to have a real nyc house legend bringing his soulful vibe exclusively to BTC RADIO: DJ ROMAIN

Romain Gowe aka DJ Romain has been a key figure in the new york city club scene since the early 90s. he got his big break when opening up for DJ Smash at famous after hour underground club "Save The Robots" and went on to be a resident at legendary clubs that shaped the music we now know as house music: Palladium, The Limelight, Tunnel, Club Exit, Centro Fly and Sound Factor Bar. 
he is close friends with Todd Terry and has shared stages with other legends such as the late Frankie Knuckles. he has also played alongside heavyweights like Francois K., Joe Clausell and Danny Krivit before venturing into producing his own records: his first release was on Strictly Rhythm in 1991 called "Get Your Thang Together".  In 2000 Romain released his world wide smash hit "Philly’s Groove" which got major air play on UK’s Radio 1 and was featured on a Defected Records compilation. he later collaborated with artists such as Angelo Ferreri, Darryl D Bonneau and Jon Cutler. their song "Reel Deep" hits No.1 on the traxsource charts. 
Romain has been in the game for decades and yet he shows no sign of slowing down: keep an eye out for more projects coming from Romain's "Metro Trax" and "Nu Faze" Records label in the future. he's not stopping any time soon.
