Originz vs sG4rY @ Outrance Sangoma Label Party (2022 - Lyon)

Xed is the psytrance project by the Founder of Patronus records, Cedric Marugg. Born in Switzerland, he discovered the psytrance scene and started playing DJ-Sets at local parties in 2016 and got himself immersed deeply into everything about it, due to falling in love with the music and dancing. After some parties he decided to organize his own events in the Swiss mountains and gather experience organizing raves. After two years of DJing he decided to dive into music production and started developing his skills with help by some of his friends (Mirror Engine, Metrix, Yaroc a.m.m.). Cedric quickly learned and distinguished himself as having a unique style very early on.

As time went on, next to putting in lots of time into the record label, his production only grew more mature and clean, not loosing a bit in creative ideas. Wild, unorthodox breaks, funky stinging raygun sounds, poisonous acid stabs, reckless alien space battles and all the gud spacey shit included. Fun but yet introspective psychedelia, but undoubtedly different, generating excitement through sheer overflow of creative and brain-twirling patterns and grooves. Blasting as loud as possible is a moral obligation.

He had the honor to play at some big events like the Sangoma Night in Zürich, Utopia Festival in Ticino, Sundaze festival near Basel as well as Sensory Spectrum (teaser) Party in Oman. Patronus Records has been founded officially in 2018 and since then, Cedric, with all the fire in his heart, has been continuously putting great effort and work into it. His goals are always growing as an individual. He's driven by the idea of giving music lovers and dancers a smile, as well as hosting a family of like-minded people and giving them soil to grow on.

He produces innovative music that is driving, psychedelic and with love and attention to detail. That's how the music of the 28-year-old artist can be described, who started his music journey by playing guitar in a rock band.

His music is characterized above all by his sound design and the way he combines individual sounds with each other in a well thought out story. His constantly growing 19" Eurorack system serves him as a reliable source for ever new sound and inspiration. OctoGoat's selection of modules provides analogue crunchy FM leads, twisted tones and soundscapes. All this combined with unexpected breaks, mood changes and really storytelling arrangements provides the necessary drive on the dancefloor.

John a.k.a BALLIOU got involved in the psychedelic culture back in 1999, growing up inside the underground electronic music scene. After performing at many events, from underground parties to large venues & festivals, Balliou joined the DJ roster of Harmonia Records. While busy with DJ-ing, Balliou worked hard to develop much-needed experience and knowledge in music production. sG4rY is an anthropologist, general adventurist, humorist, academic scholar and Psychedelic Trance DJ with more than one decade of international experience, residing in Bavarias beautiful capital Munich. 

He represents the labels Sangoma Records as well as Purple Hexagon Records with his side project Brot3rys together with DJ Merry:) 

His heavy itchy feet syndrom, his taste in a wide range of styles in Psychedelic Trance and the lust for encountering new like minded psychonauts has led him to perform at events such as Antaris Project (Germany), Hilltop New Years Eve (Goa/India), Momento Demento Festival (Croatia), Kosmos Festival (Finland), Sonica Dance Festival (Italy), Universal Religion (Nepal), Trimurti Festival (Russia), Waldfrieden Wonderland Festival (Germany), Yaga Gathering (Lithuania) and countless other events around Austria, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and the Netherlands.

Creating a journey sui generis for his listeners is his biggest aspiration. Psychedelic Trance has to be approached from different angles, using the many colourful vibrations it offers. Therefore, sG4rY likes to play sets as long as possible in order to draw from the different musical influences he gets from befriended artists, musicians and freaks around the globe. Nightly journeys that disscolve towards the first glimpses of the new day as well as sending the crowd into the night with a powerful kick off, or even sunny variations with non-cheesy hypnotic daytime trance are all part of his repertoire. He loves that special energy during sunrise and sunset on the dancefloor and tries to use it for involving the crowd into a flow of certain feelings and sensations, sometimes humorous, sometimes gloomy or filled with deep emotions. His numerous various artist releases over the years on different labels mirror this passion for muscial variety and expression.
