Katha Battle Of Mukatsar- A Descriptive Account

On 1st of Jeth 1767 Bikarmi (1710 CE), the dream and thirst of every Sikh to avenge the martyrdom of the Chhote Sahibzade was quenched when Nishan Sahib was raised over Sirhind and Wazir Khan punished to death. In order to achieve this mission, 6,000 Sikhs laid down their lives in this battle which marked the dawn of Khalsa Raj in Punjab.

Whilst seated on Akaal Takht, Guru Ji calls 2 Sikhs and instructs them to go to Kartarpur to summon Painda Khan and his wife. The other Sikh is to go to Goindwal Sahib and bring Guru Ji’s family back to Amritsar. Upon arrival at Amritsar, the whole family was delighted to have the glimpse of Guru Ji and Sri Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji who was few months old was made to sit on Guru Ji’s laps. 
Within few months, Painda Khan’s wife gives birth to a baby girl. Painda was disappointed but Guru Ji congratulated him and told him not to worry. After Painda left, Guru Ji started laughing. Bhai Jaita Ji inquired and Guru Ji said that this girl will be the cause of a huge battle in the future.

109 Gurbilas Patshahi 6 Chapter 17 Part 1- Returning To Amritsar

In this part, Baba Gurditta Ji gives a paper with Satnam written on it to Mata Natti Ji on 13 Chet 1683 Bk. for her to place in her mouth for a child. Baba Ji gives instructions on the method but Mata Ji fails to comply. She does not have a bath in Amritvela and instead she places the paper in her mouth in the evening without having bath. Later, both Baba Ji and Mata Ji goes to Kartarpur where a child, Baba Dhirmal is born on a Saturday, 13 Magh 1683 Bk.

Baba Atal Rai Ji who was 9 years old used to play Khido Khundi (field hockey) with his best friend Mohan Soni. One day, Baba Ji won 1 game against him but as it was becoming late, it was decided that the next game shall be the next day. But at the same night, Mohan was stung by a snake and he died. The next morning, all were mourning Mohan’s death and when Baba Ji arrived at his house, he looked at Mohan’s body and said, “Why are you still sleeping?” Just by saying this, Mohan got up and went to play with Baba Ji as planned. 
People of Amritsar started praising Baba Ji and when the news reached to Guru Ji who was seated on the Akaal Takht, Guru Ji was not pleased. In the evening, when Baba Ji returned home, Guru Ji in a strict tone asked Baba Ji and gave him 2 choices. It was either Guru Ji leaves his body or Baba Ji does as a replacement to Mohan. Baba Ji did not utter a word and immediatly left. He laid down in a location south of Amrit Sarowar and left his body. 
The next day, everyone got to know and people started crying. Guru Ji said to everyone that Baba Atal Rai is the Sardar of Amritsar and placed a Tilak on his forehead. The day was 10 Asu, 1685 Bk. (1628 CE). Guru Ji prophesised that a huge monument will be made in memory of Baba Ji and it shall have 9 stories depicting each life of Baba Ji. Guru Ji gave a boon that anyone who is cremated here shall be liberated. A Sikh at that time brought 5 Rotis and Guru Ji said that people shall bring cooked food to Baba Atal. Thus the saying, Baba Atal Pakia Pakaiya Ghal. Baba Ji’s ashes were submitted to River Gangga. 
Bhai Gurdas Ji consoled everyone and Bhai Biddhi Chand Ji performed the Path of Granth Sahib and Ardas was done at Akaal Takht. 
On another note, 6 years had passed since the passing of Baba Mohan, Mohri and Anand Ji. Baba Datu Ji had few days remaining and Guru Ji told to breathe his last at Khadur Sahib.

111 Gurbilas Patshahi 6 Chapter 17 Part 3- Joti Joyt Baba Atal Rai Ji

During the gathering on Diwali at Baba Atal, a Sikh by the name of Prem Chand who hailed from Kartarpur offered his daughter in marriage with Baba Suraj Mal Ji. Guru Ji agreed and Prem Chand placed a Tilak on Baba Ji’s forehead as confirmation. 
Later, Baba Gurditta Ji and Bhai Sai Das Ji returns back to their homes.
