Beginning the new year in style, Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes GMJ and Matter back to the label for a two-track showcase. Based in Melbourne, the Aussie duo have been beloved figures in the global progressive house scene for over a decade. Having forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of melody and rhythm, the duo has drawn the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula. Whether operating in solo capacity or as a duo, GMJ and Matter have taken their elusive production touch to the industry's most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, to Australia's long-standing Balance Music and their own burgeoning Meanwhile imprint, it's GMJ and Matter's storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre's most discerning trendsetters. Replug has also served as a landing spot for the talented Aussie's, with the release of Matter's ‘Satori' EP marking his label debut in 2017, while GMJ first arrived in 2016 with a contribution to the label's Replugged, Vol. 2 collection. Now, fresh off their latest Meanwhile vehicle ‘EXT 135', GMJ and Matter land back on Replug to begin the new year with ‘Metanoia'. 

As a recent favourite of Replug boss Cid Inc, EP opener and title selection 'Metanoia' finds GMJ and Matter composing with a strong sense of space. Instantly seductive, its looping hypnotism and subtle musicality never fail to command your attention, driving each other into a whirlpool of spiralling emotions, making for a flexible club track that bends between scenes while injecting vibrant energy into the dancefloor. Rich atmospheres, effervescent percussion and dubbed out tones are at a premium across the eight-minute excursion, with each sound being an event in a slowly expanding landscape, zooming out to reveal a world of scale in which depth and contrast coax perfectly with rhythm and melody. 

Moving forward to selection two, GMJ and Matter masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular meditative vision that is 'In Bloom'. Building with a subdued pulse, its smoky resonance eventually gives way to melodic experimentation, where textural and structural dimensions blanket subterranean wobbles and tightly knit percussion, resulting in a profound mood setting experience. Thematically distinct throughout, the duo's misty melodies are haunting and highly memorable, ringing out in timeless suspension across a mood lifting break, before segueing into a utopian finale that resonates with a rare combination of hope and reflection.

The 'Metanoia' project is a fantastical journey across a vivid electronic cosmos, one where GMJ and Matter carefully balance technical vision, with thought-provoking musicality and elaborate rhythmic sequences, making for a two-track affair that brings us closer to knowing the enigmatic duo, while continuing to live in the mystery of their design.

We welcome Molac on board 90watts for the very first time. His label debut is titled 'As Above, So Below', a wonderful piece of melodic organic house music. Super groovy and incredibly infectious. Another great release by the artist known for his output on labels such as Watergate Records, Songuara and Amulanga to name a few.

On remix duties Dulus makes his return on the label a couple of months after the release of his 'Mostly Sunny' single which is undoubtedly amongst the most populair songs released on 90watts in the past year. His super funky bassline sets the tone and pushes 'As Above, So Below' to another level. Top class stuff!

The fourth and final remix EP for Francesco Pico's Perpetual E-Motion album marks a fitting conclusion to both the album's series of remixes and to 2024 for his own label, Magnitude Recordings. This special release brings fresh energy to two standout tracks from the album, presenting reimagined versions crafted by Yonsh and F-Act and Allan McLoud.

Yonsh delivers a powerful reinterpretation of Starting A Little Ruffer, amplifying the track's dark, driving energy with textured layers and a punchy groove that gives it an edgier dimension. Yonsh's remix retains the original's pulsating bassline while adding hypnotic melodic flourishes, transforming the song into a true dancefloor experience that stays true to the progressive spirit.

Meanwhile, A Hat Tip To The Great Alexander gets a distinctive twist from F-Act and Allan McLoud. Their remix infuses the track with atmospheric pads, lush synth layers, and deep, rolling bass that elevate the original's reflective mood. Balancing melodic depth with a driving rhythm, this remix brings out new emotive qualities that make it as engaging on headphones as it is in a club setting.

Next on ICONYC sees the return of Alex O'Rion with the reworked 2020 edit of his smash hit 'Navagio'. The talented Dutch producer has been a well-known entity within the scene and has graced some of the world's finest electronic music labels with his unique and lasting productions. Hailing from Amsterdam, Alex, developed a unique style of music, full of ambiances, paired with despondent and warm dreamy patterns that guided him to where he is to today and embodies the sound he now personifies. 

Alex leads with the outstanding rework of his timeless 'Navagio' track; a stunning driving melodic progressive house affair. The track utilizes a deep groove as foundation, underpinned by a profound bass and smooth synth chords that gradually ease their way to the summit. Unified by a relentless kick drum and dusky atmospheric emotion, the composition climaxes by adding recurrent percussive elements and soft soaked melodies that come together to create a structured sphere of sonic satisfaction. 

On remix duty we welcome Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, famed for their endless high-quality productions. Their interpretation sounds mature, effortless, and full of subtle nuance. Known to never be bound by any particular style, we see the duo taking a deeper route for their rework of 'Navagio'. Kamilo & Dabeat deliver a bittersweet, quality fueled, melancholic rework that manages to get your legs shaking with each downbeat. Great stuff!

Adding to our list of all-star remixers, we drafted in Subandrio who knows a thing or two when it comes to mind blowing reworks, turning his mix into an irresistible track using the original elements with perfection. Subandrio layers more melodies and effects, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed tech percussion and his trademark FX elements, without destroying the essence of the original. His rework deserves to be branded 'elemental' in any sense of the word. 

Alex O'Rion has developed a unique style which endeared him to us; having established his credentials as a master of his craft. Alex's 'Navagio 2020 Rework', accompanied by 2 reworks from Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat and Subandrio, is certain to find its way into the playlists of the big-boys brigade.
