This is the full recording of my live set at Blackdance Bogota on December 10th 2022. This was the last set of the night, performed in front of what was one of the best crowds I have encountered in 2022.

Now in its 200th instalment, this Podcast has given voice to a diverse offering of global talents across the musical spectrum, from the democratic rhythms of zeitgeist appropriate techno and house through to more avant-garde synthwork.

This next guest has cast a large shadow over the technosphere, so large in fact, that no introduction could fully encompass the breadth of his achievements. But in brief: Ben Klock is a titan whose formative years were spent playing marathon mixes to the crowds at Berlin’s (then recently opened) Berghain. Off the back of his endurance sets and the club’s success he became a household name whose influence grew to be felt across the world, with a body of work that includes appearances at an exhaustive list of clubs and festivals, a number of hot releases on Ostgut Ton and an equally respected self-run label (Klockworks) to boot. On this second imprint, his own productions have repeatedly seen the light of day, alongside those from the likes of DVS1, Sterac, Stef Mendesidis and younger talents like Temudo and Vil & Cravo. The sound, ubiquitous as it is, will be familiar to anyone involved in the world of electronic music and there’s good reason for that: Klock’s deep and percussive work and ability to pull from a wide range of influences have earmarked him as a unique agent for the techno cause. Atmospheric and delivered with hammering force, Klock’s refined palette for rhythms is as relevant now as ever. Sam Coates took to techno like a diligent pupil, falling in love with the genre through labels like CLR in the late '00s. It didn't take long for the student to surpass his proverbial teachers. Almost immediately, the Manchester native was putting out pitch-perfect, functional techno records with everything intricately balanced. The requisite move to Berlin only sealed his fate as a future techno luminary, and by now, based in Kyiv, he's one of techno's most reliable, yet exciting, workhorses. Setaoc Mass records (and those on his label, SK_eleven) are minimalist but colossal, deceptively simple but not easy to pull off. 

We've praised him in these pages for his "sense of economy—how to get the hardest impact out of just a few elements," and that's the idea behind his RA Podcast as well. Put together from records old and new, and intricately layered, Coates's mix is like a time-travelling wormhole connecting disparate eras from techno, and highlighting the genre's most timeless attributes: mechanistic rhythms, careful pacing, rudimentary melodies made out of the strangest sounds and, of course, the power of the bass drop. It's hard to imagine anything that sounds more capital-T techno than this mix, which is a high compliment. It's easy to hear why his records and DJ sets are only more in demand from techno heads across the geographical and generational spectrum.

Coming from Saint-Petersburg and now living in Oviedo, @Lidvall is our next guest delivering one hour of raw and dancefloor oriented techno.

He became one of the most active producers out there with recent releases in labels such as Kazerne, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Faut Section, MindTrip, Edit Select, llegal Alien and Newrithmic Records among others.

🌀 Artist Bios:
If you’ve danced techno in Bogotá, chances are you’ve already felt his impact. Juan Diego Ruiz Q., better known as Juanxxo.33, started as a key promoter in the local scene, curating nights with a highly trained ear and contagious energy. Over time, he transitioned into DJing — and with a taste as sharp as his party instincts, the result was inevitable: a selector who knows exactly when to push, pull, and blow the roof off.

Valentina Díaz, aka Vython, is a Bogotá-based DJ with a sound rooted in cinematic storytelling, breaks, and raw techno. Her sets build emotional landscapes as much as they move bodies. She’s played at iconic spaces like La Jaula at Radio Berlín, Antisistema, and recently premiered a video set with Analog Vice. With razor-edge transitions and an ear for tension, she’s carving a space where beauty and aggression collide.
