Becoming a regular stage warmer for the Mood Swing & Chevy Bass Block Parties has presented a good excuse to get out of the house and share some much loved tunes of a slightly funkier variety alongside dear friends and some incredibly talented international acts...
.
For this instalment we gathered at The Triffid and the brief was to begin the moment doors opened and warm up the space by toeing the line of a vibe that begs the question "Should we get a drink?" or "Should we have a dance?" then handover to the rest of the funky little relay team assembling for the eve. Shout out to Jamie Forest, Father Funk, Clitoverse, Djonn, Wilma, Sharif D, The Freshmaker, The Sponges and of course MSCB.

I count my blessings to have these opportunities to express myself and connect with others through a mutual love of the music that we can't help but move and groove to, the kind that makes us feel, helps us heal and above all else connect with ourselves via the rhythms and melodies that feel at home in our bodies for reasons far beyond our understanding.

Setting the tone for the day ahead at the Boombox Stage on Sunday at Earth Frequency Festival was an absolute deeeeelight!

Morning Mojo, a much anticipated maiden voyage collaboration for The Shady Lady and Blossom Medusa merging their shared love and devotion to Meditation, Yoga, Music, Dance and Tea giving the people what they so desperately need by day three...a cuppa, a spangle informed stretch sesh and a thoughtfully designed soundscape to ease everyone into their day.

We were also so so spoilt on the day to have Cecilia Caleandro join us for the last portion of the set winding everything down to an eventual Sivasana Serenade with ethereal vocals, harp and flute leaving us all in the floatiest of moods. Alas this was not captured and stored as a recording on the day but the memory will stay with all who were there to behold.

The first and last chunk of this set is best enjoyed taking it easy in a cosy, comfortable position with soft or even closed eyes if that’s something that feels good for you then allow the music to be the guide. The pace rises and falls again with many worthwhile messages to be absorbed throughout and a Hare Krishna/Coolio remix you probably didn't know you needed!

The tracks selected were already well and truly adored by at least one or both of us but now have found themselves etched even deeper into our souls and psyches, destined to always be treasured and remembered together as though they belong. This is a live recording of my opening set to celebrate my good friend Treavor Moontribe's 50th birthday. The evening took place at a Moroccan-themed restaurant in Hollywood, and Treavor played a 4-hour set after mine, so we were able to really dial in the flow. 

I've been collecting some tasty slow house music in the last few years without any real place to play them, and this set gave me a chance to flex that muscle a little, toward the end of the set. I had fun with it.

They have soothed me, moved me and inspired me in ways I find it hard to articulate and so in a way this here little mix is my way of both giving back and paying it forward so others might have a chance to connect with their creations. Shambhala 2024 @ The Secret Garden

Here’s my opening set to The Magic Garden Vol. 6 “Invasion/Survival Day” celebration. I was honoured to play after Ben Moodie’s opening ceremony and help set the vibe for the day ahead with a rising tribal bass, ethnic midtempo and psytech journey, highlighting some indigenous styles in honour of celebrating First Nations as opposed to the colonial settler violence this day represents for many.
