FLAX (she/her)
genrefluid trip: experimental, breaks, weird beats

FLAX is a Weimar-based DJ, sound artist, and cultural manager with a diverse background in various music scenes and subcultures. She started her journey as a DJ with the foundation of the network Metaware Weimar in 2019 and has since worked in various roles, including concept artist, music teacher, event manager, booker, and sound artist. Her style is described as "genrefluid trips" that blend different genres and sounds.

FLAX is currently pursuing musicology and cultural management studies at the music university Weimar, where she researches the field of "music and well-being," the history of electronic music & sound art, and the intersection of "music & gender" in club culture. She is also committed to inspiring and empowering young FLINTA* people through workshops.

FLAX is working on the production of her debut album project and has been teaching at the Bauhaus University Weimar since 2022 to further her research.

"What always drives me is my love for music. It's not the world that's unfair, it's the people who don't know any other perspectives. I will tirelessly play demanding and progressive sound on the stages I stand on because that's what drives me - curiosity, love for sound, and a desire to experiment. New spaces, sound scapes, whatever and diverse perspectives are realities of life, realities(!) and I want to hear and see them for real. There are no more excuses for me that there are still teams or bookings that are not diverse, keep growing, keep changing and keep fighting. Love, F"

Today’s mix is brought to you by hustleroeger, who grew up in the Black Forest area and lived in Erfurt for six years where he studied architecture. Since 2020 his homebase is Leipzig. At the age of 10 he already started to play the drums and learned to play several percussion instruments. When moving to Erfurt, he didn’t want to lose his passion for rhythmic music and bought a controller - that’s how he got into DJing.

With his sound he tries to create a rhythmic harmony from different beat through Breaks, Electro, Ghetto Tech and Trance. hustleroeger played gigs at open airs and venues like Kalif Storch, Kickerkeller, Retronom and Klanggerüst in Erfurt as well as apostrophé crew’s Kegelbahn in Leipzig.
