Exclusive: Daffy - Settings

Hailing from Bristol to the UKG-world it's Daffy delivering the goodies for a smooth conclusion of the week. His track Settings is part of GLB DOM's second edition of the Spezial Series, a conclomerate of fifteen tracks reincarnating the genre and ringing in a new era of it. With an almost Drum'n'Bass-esque bass line combined with rather deep and highly melodic chords Settings sets the bar very high with the first beat to hit for what's to follow but does not disappoint as the track's infectious synth hookline and puts one into trancey state of mind, which lasts until the end. Its fluffy breakdown and the minimal vocal-snippet that replaces a clap resonates with the other elements of Settings turning Daffy's musical approach to an affair of an addictive groove and vibe at the same time.

Spezial Series Vol. 2 will be released on GLB DOM on November 12th, 2021.

Sigourney Discs presents its third release following BACK by Dark Vektor and CZ200 by PLOM. Rinse Repeat is the new EP from Barcelona-based French producer La Fraicheur and Berlin-based French producer Leonard de Leonard. 

The Rinse Repeat EP shows the duo’s wide spectrum of love affairs with techno’s rich universe of sounds and moods. The title track Rinse Repeat is built around a raspy and ever-evolving playful acid bassline with added drama from sound Design and distorted glitchy gimmicks. Mind The Step is taking the sound design-induced drama a step further with a slow burning spacious and epic cavernous fantasmagoria that flips itself on the head half way through, becoming a vengeful track driven by a menacing yet groovy gritty bassline.

Rounding up the EP is the apt-titled Fairies Bootcamp. Ethereal and eerie skidding melodies balance out a grounded martial rhythm as if you had, on a forest walk, stumbled upon an army of fairies in a training camp caught mid-flight arming themselves to take their land back. The soundtrack of a supernatural call for arms.

On remix duty, Sigourney Discs co-founder Yandira leaves the war behind to focus on the otherworldly elements of Fairies Bootcamp and offers a trippy floaty dreamstate rendition for open airs and early morning rising suns.

Welcoming back Shall Not Fade family member Paul Rudder who brings an uplifting 5-track EP that shows him come into his powers right in the sweet spot between house music meant for the dance floor and that more suited to late night cruises. 
 
Whatever the setting, Unknown Future EP oozes with cool and sees the Spanish producer strip things back from his usual disco-infused sound. ‘Night Ocean’ and ‘Unknown Future’ kick things off with dreamy, full-bodied soundscapes of glistening pads and synths which flutter over a skipping house beat to transport their listener to celestial planes. Continuing in the same otherworldly vein, ‘Storm Pattern’ and ‘Variable Star’ are bolstered by thick layers of cosmic ambience whilst ‘Goodbye Planet’ represents the EP at its most minimal with a focus on percussion and a minimal skipping house beat.

Next on the agenda for the Orbital London label is a tasty four tracker from label boss man, Jack Michael and bass specialist, Inner Zone. The Drenched Volume EP is made up of one original and one remix from the accomplished producers, ravey breaks and garage energy with a modern day punch.

Jack’s “Volume” track boots off the EP in true Orbital style, distinctive broken drums, a warm winding bassline and trippy pads and synths all working together to make this a d floor destroyer in the coming months. Inner Zone’s “Volume” remix follows on the A side, pitched up and high energy from the get go and maintains a raw and in your face liveliness throughout.

On the flip Inner Zone lays down their original “Rainforest Sound” aptly named from the killer vocal sample they’ve used throughout. This one is cut directly for the moodier occasions bringing a deep and mysterious flavour to the dance floor. Rounding off the EP is Jack’s remix of “Rainforest Sound”, another enormous sound from the English talent, rough and ready with choppy drum work.

Jack Michael / Inner Zone - Drenched Volume EP (ORBLDN006)

We’re proud to introduce you to Spazio Tempo’s first release ever, a stunning album by its founder Luca Vera called ‘Transizione Degli Elementi’ - literally - Transition of the elements. The record is an actual journey into the artist’s creative mind and it’s composed of ten tracks, each and every one masterly crafted according to Luca’s experimental sonic ideal. Since the very beginning of the LP is clear how the producer wants to display a vast range of sounds, to perfectly epitomise a will to exhibit his versatility as a music composer and his inner urgency to show his style, finally on his own imprint. ‘Transizione Degli Elementi’ is a cohesive and solid work , yet quite variegated in terms of sonic influences, surely the result of an intense collaborative process between Luca and many musicians (Alessio Lalli: trumpet / Luigi Pizzuti: Guitar, Vocals / Aldo Mascio: Electric Piano) who helped him to convey the right message. All - in - all what shines through this beautiful digital EP - out in April 2022 - is a tenacious sonic attitude by the artist, who perfectly shows his experience and skillfulness by continuously shifting the sonic moods, from the meeker, smoother vibes of ‘L’inizio’, ‘Orizzonti’ and ‘Notte’ to the darker energy of ‘Idiosincrasia’, the more club - like approach of ‘Urto Elastico’ and the rhythmic burst of ‘Ossessione’. Then Luca takes his foot off the gas, slowing down the tempo with ‘Silenzio Violento ’ and creating a perfect anti - climax towards the end of the album with the acid vibes of ‘Sinestesia’, the dreamy gentleness of ‘Via Da Qui’ and the spacey, emotional ending of the stunning harmonic masterpiece ‘Gran Finale’. The record was mastered at the Land Studio and the Cover Art was designed by Francesco Scaramuzzo.
