Waka means water. The ‘Waka’ album pays homage to the water that sustains all life on our blue planet. Shaneihu Yawanawa's reverence to the transformational quality of water to cleanse and rebirth serves as a reminder that we have the choice to change in each moment. His voice is joined by that of his wife Marya Sheki and sister Nay Ushu, feminine voices that channel the power of the forest. The album contains ancestral songs, healing songs spoken in Vaná (language of the plant spirits), and songs composed by Shaneihu.

Out of the lights behind closed doors, he’s not the man he used to be.
He doesn’t see it anymore, he’s sure not going to dare agree.
He tells himself it’s only temporarily.

She’s not connecting with her   friends. “They all refuse to change with the times.”
Who knows where her story ends? If you ask her, she’ll be just fine.
She sees it all from a different point of  view.
Sure, I’ve   grown up, that’s what I’m supposed to do.

Maybe changing who we are is not part of the plan. 
Shape a little, bend a little, but never leave a crease.
You only get one chance to shape this world.
Maybe you can start and end with peace.

He makes believe he never was.He’d be embarrassed if they knew.
No sense in telling them because,That was then, this is now, he grew.
It’s just not right, you know, to do just what you please.
I’ve had to settle down, I’ve responsibilities.
But have you changed inside, or just what they all see?

Shaneihu Yawanawa is a man of multitudes: he is a spiritual leader, musician, hunter, father and chief of the Yawarani village. Early on, his role as a bridge between the Yawanawa people and the rest of the world led him to introduce the guitar to their vocal music tradition. Twenty years on, instruments are infused into the music and spiritual practices of the Yawanawa.

Shaneihu has dedicated his life to the shamanic practices of his Yawanawa lineage, passed down through generations over thousands of years. This includes years of isolation and strict plant diets to carry out his life’s purpose – to awaken love and spirituality in all humans.
