[BA][SS] is a collaborative sound sculpture project by Boris Allenou and Shankar Saanthakumar. Together they explore how DIY mechanically driven drum and drone machines can be manipulated into soundscapes.

Arne’s Yellow Bucket is a monthly experimental mix by sound artist Boris Allenou for EHFM. 

James Wright is a Northern-Irish sound-maker and educator; his work across moving image and music focuses on the sculptural and spatial qualities of sound, often sourced from his own extensive library of field recordings. He performs solo under the alias Bananafish and leads the eclectic improv group Sea of Cables.

This month's guest : Owen Marshall is a researcher/teacher/artist specializing in sound studies, media archaeology, and the historical sociology of techno-scientific controversies. He is currently based in Ithaca, New York, where he is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Cornell University's department of Science and Technology Studies.

Arne’s Yellow Bucket is a monthly experimental mix by sound artist Boris Allenou for EHFM. 

This month's guest : Deborah Shaw (Aurora Engine) is a pianist, harpist, vocalist and sonic artist who explores human stories and landscape through sound. Blending extended instrumental techniques with verbal and non verbal vocalisations, found and collected her sound worlds imagine new territories. Recent commissions include ‘Flutter -  A Sonic Exploration of Tourette’s Syndrome for Voice and Electronics’ for the annual Scottish Arts Mental Health Festival, ‘Unseen’ a collaboration with choreographer Katie Armstrong reclaiming domestic landscapes through sound for Hidden Door festival. Deborah has also created a series of scores for historic films, reimagining the stories and characters through a feminist lens, supported by Film Hub Scotland, MINT Chinese Film Festival and BFI.

Recording from the live sound sculpture performance of Sail for Cryptic Nights 2025 at The Art School, Glasgow.

Fascinated by the transformation of matter – from gas clouds, to planets, to bodies – Saanthakumar imagines this process in reverse. Sail takes the form of a sci-fi vessel, where the body becomes both sail and ship, launching not from orbit, but from within The Art School.
