Filth On Acid label boss Renier Zonneveld launched his new collaborative series called Cocktail with one prior release, and now has called upon one half of Deep Dish and Yoshitoshi boss Sharam for his second official release titled ‘Ski’.

Hypnotic and sharp from the get-go, ‘Ski’ is a slow-burning crowd pleaser that taps into crisp drums, classic analog synths and an absolutely chilling vocal. 'Ski', combining the best of both seasoned producers, is a teasing tune that slowly, but surely unravels into an undeniable peak set moment.

'Ski' is out on Filth On Acid on June 16.

Every raver has their sunrise story. It usually takes place around 6 AM, after dancing all night, when the first rays of light usher in a new musical energy, something wild and magical. It’s the kind of moment people romanticize for years, even decades after. Such was the desired effect of Luzon’s 2002 classic Manila Sunrise. The tune contains a raw, tribal energy that few others can claim. Drawing influence from the Goa scene, it’s twirling pads and majestic vocal made it an instant progressive house staple that redefined the genre. We’re proud to bring back this insatiable classic for our fifteenth Yoshitoshi Classic remix pack, with contributions from three of today’s finest producers — label owner Sharam, Swiss studio ace Khainz, and New York techno legend Boris.

Sharam’s remix adds some modern flare to the original's progressive nature. He injects some dark, drum n’ bass-inspired sounds, a catchy new melody, and a beautiful, pad-and-vocal driven breakdown that transports listeners and club-goers to another dimension. Khainz makes his Yoshitoshi debut with a remix that boasts a myriad of stabs, effects, and other synth wizardry over a driving, tech house groove. His monstrous builds give away to exhilarating, unapologetic release. Finally, Boris transforms the track into a percussion-driven monstrosity that smacks of the classic New York 90's techno sound. The mix itself is built around banging drums and heavy bass, while the original’s delicate vocal contrasts the brutal nature of his remix, creating a powerful sonic dichotomy. As usual, we have included a remaster of the timeless original mix to complete this package. Enjoy.

OC & Verde made a splash on Yoshitoshi last summer with their huge remix of Veerus’s “Beat That,” topping the progressive house charts with one of our favorite records of 2017. We knew it was only a matter of time before we invited them back for a proper single. Not only did they deliver something spectacular, they did it with the help of one of our favorite up-and-coming duos, Londoners Eli & Fur.

“Sweet Perfection” delivers the goods with the boys’ glistening production and the girls’ gorgeous vocals. The track is at once deep, driving, and enticing, a fine effort from two of the UK’s most exciting acts and a fitting release to help kick off 2018. We’ve also included their ‘Stranger Things’ dub, which strips the original of its vocal for a darker affair.

Label boss Sharam contributes what is already his second remix of 2018, continuing the signature sound he put forth on his recent Collecti album. His remix is a groovy techno journey laced with his signature drum n’ bass and melodic influences, creating a dynamic dance floor weapon. Sharam also offers a ‘Crazi dub’ incarnation of his remix, which draws more from the head-turning techno side of his production prowess.

Real house heads will remember the days when it wasn’t uncommon for artists to make multiple mixes of the same track for their release, and every DJ who played the record had their favorite mix. This way of doing things has fallen to the wayside in the days of digital, perpetuated by a fear that “splitting sales” might hurt chart positions. Well, Sharam wants you to know that he doesn’t care, and his new single harkens back to this sacred, old school tradition. “The Rain” is not just one amazing record – it is three.

The track features the vocals of Adam Englefield, aka Bengle, who crafted these beautiful, haunting lyrics specifically for Sharam's ever-so-meloncholic sound. As if it was needed, the release further displays Sharam’s versatility as a producer, pouring his talent into 3 distinct mixes, each with its own special flavor around the vocals as if three different artists remixed it.

We kick things off with the New York mix, which alone sounds like three unique mixes. It starts deep and ominous, then moves into a building section which captures your attention as it moves continuously upward toward the final section, a huge and impending drop which has had crowds going nuts for months. The climax in the New York mix cannot be understated, it’s an explosion of energy the likes of which only Sharam could conjure.

We move next to the London mix. With its more straight-ahead arrangement amidst alluring melodies and hypnotic elements, this one is more apt for bigger rooms and festivals, yet its consistently deep and keeps the eerie and memorable vibe of the vocals at the forefront.

Finally, the Detroit mix provides an option for those who like their records dirty and raw. Where the New York and London mixes are sleek and polished, the Detroit mix strips things down to its bare, groovy essentials. Its classic, Juno-inspired chords and 909 snare smacks wouldn’t sound out of place in a 90’s house mix out of Chicago, but Sharam seemingly got his inspiration from Detroit. You be the judge.

Altogether, the three distinct mixes come together to create a diverse and exciting body of work that is at once dark, deep, epic, and singularly Sharam. He and Bengle have proven themselves a dream team, gifting the world with this unique record.

'Isolate,' leans much more towards dark, driving, and hypnotic techno. Sharam decided to tweak and finish the track as a result of the extended quarantine, and is his first isolation-inspired track (hence the name). Isolate's syncopated stabs build and stack on each other in a multitude of layers, coalescing into a complex, distorted, and infectious groove. The track wouldn't sound out of place on Sharam's 2017 techno album Collecti.

As Sharam's first solo effort of the new decade, it doesn't start on much of a higher point. The tracks demonstrate the veteran's ability to craft diverse and thought-provoking tracks that draw just enough on current trends to sound relevant but not enough to sound stagnant.

When Deep Dish played Pacha Ibiza in 2018, it was one of the group’s biggest reunion shows to date celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first show at Pacha, Ibiza. DJing to thousands at the legendary white isle club, the duo played an expertly crafted mix of tried-and-true classics, cutting-edge records, and unreleased material from both members. One of those tracks has been the subject of much attention, until now only available in the recording of the set released by Dancing Astronaut a year ago.
