Fresh off the back of his lifetime achievement award at the 2019 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards, IG Culture and the CoOp Selectors Assemble crew are back with a killer new track from London based producer and vocalist Oliver Night. Having established himself as a DJ some 15 years ago, he has built a solid reputation playing across the capital, from the Tate Modern to Boiler Room. His music has been released in the past by the likes of Tony Humphries, Kerri Chandler & Seth Troxler.

This four-tracker illustrates Oliver’s diverse range of influences, from the initial inspiration of his Jamaican uncle, musician Hughie Izachaar (who worked with Lee Scratch Perry & others), through to his passion for London’s broken beat movement. Oliver’s sound epitomises tru-skool UK sound-system ethics; grounded in reggae and dub production sensibilities, whilst built solidly for the bruk and house music dances of today.

Alex Autajon is a young french DJ/Producer who makes forward-thinking club tracks. After a few net label releases he appeared on MOVELTRAXX “Street Bangers Factory” series alongside DJ Earl, TT The Artist, Nadus & more.

Inspired by artists like Cashmere Cat, Big Dope P & Feadz, his work is described by Dummy Magazine as skippy, syncopated beats that sits somewhere between DJ Rashad and Bok Bok in terms of soundscape, with whirling synths, booty-claps, gunshots and weighty low-end.

He remixed Crookers & DJ Manny, worked with Morgan Hislop & mixed the compilation Modus Operandi : Alex Autajon which features music from MikeQ, Dj Tameil, Mighty Mark & many more. He also played on Rinse FM, Reprezent FM & Hotel Radio Paris.

In 2019, his debut solo releases are featured in Mixmag, Complex, Insert, Trax, BBC Radio 1, Dummy mag. He also produced official remixes for Crookers or Teklife and played in Spain, Switzerland, UK & France.

To be honest the song came out of a structured learning process. Cape Town producer Gina Jeanz was giving me some lessons and the basis of the song came out of the homework assignments she gave me. "Trabalho para casa" or TPC for short is portuguese for Homework. It also represents my own journey in becoming much more comfortable sharing my own music with other people.

My biggest inspiration is my identity, heritage and environment. Being mixed African - belonging to everywhere and nowhere but also being deeply rooted in our heritage, love and emancipation - drives how I perceive and create music.

To me the experience of music is universal. It's the soundtrack to life, what gets us through our struggles and enhances our triumphs.

“We want to show you what we love about music without any other boundaries than our own restless minds.” - With this vision Berlin-based Kepler, DJ Uta and Sarah Farina (later joined by LUZ1E) formed the collective and event series Rec Room in 2013, which focuses on electronic music from the Bass music spectrum and is all about breaking genre-boundaries in club music and culture.

Rec Room presents its first release Roots, Space, Vision Vol. 1 compiling ten tracks from exceptional artists who represent our vision of an intergenerational, inclusive and intersectional feminist future, dance floor and global music community. This compilation is a musical reflection of their regular club night at Berlin’s “Ohm” venue and ranges from Jungle to Baltimore Club music and features unique producers from around the globe who translate their stories into sonic journeys.
