Summer Melody returns with a brand new installment of our Intertwines EP series, showcasing new and upcoming artists in a pair of two, and starting their own fusion towards the label. Our 17th installment includes two progressive tracks from label debutants hailing from Russia and Ukraine respectively.

Starting off with a deep progressive track from Dimas Mixon. An uprising progressive house producer who has released on labels such as Massive Harmony, OLD SQL and Consapevole, Dimas Mixon debuts on Summer Melody with Lights Out. This mesmerising track captures the sense of darkness and the light seeking moment, where hope remains in the distance, such delivered by the progressions from the synthlines, pads and vocal layering in the background. Definitely an artist who needs attention to, we are looking forward to have Dimas again on the label or on our sub-label NuHouse!

Another side of the pairing shows a more upbeat debut from Maxim Kovalskiy. An artist who started his journey last year and focusing on trance, Maxim Kovalskiy debuts on Summer Melody with a progressive track that is melodic-focused with a hint of his trance style. Sunny Day provides with an atmospheric synth melody and solid trance-oriented beat, another beautiful track for the summer with a more uplifting feel.

Shaw Cuts is happy to welcome a new face to the label squad: Lazarus, a young producer from Nuremberg, yields the perfect soundtrack for ‚The Magic Blade‘ with his debut record. 
The story begins with another clash between arch-rivals Fu Hung Hsueh and Yen-Nan Fei, two of the country’s most skilled swordsmen, both on a quest to number one. ‚Rhea’ sets the perfect tempo for the duel with its heavyweight drums, revolving percussion and energetic pads. 
Clanking swords are interrupted by the arrival of shady company - followers of the mysterious underworld swayer sent by Master Yu who wants Yen-Nan Fei’s head. Fu Hung Hsueh and Yen-Nan Fei join forces, slaying the villains in seconds. ‚Reverof Nema‘ rolls in, its commanding rhythm and moody chords giving the swordsmen new force and vitality. 
Yu wants to eliminate the swordsmen so that they never gain possession of the Peacock-Dart, an indestructible weapon with thanatophoric effects and the object of Yu’s desires. But Fu Hung Hsueh and Yen-Nan Fei have already picked up the scent. Bloody battles follow against more of Yu’s entourage. The race against time is led by the energetic synth delirium and savage drums of ‚Casio Flex‘, leading Hsueh and Fei safely to the sublime weapon. 
The duo journey on, defending the Peacock-Dart until they reach Yu’s temple. The final showdown. ‚Overcome’ and its warped groove, warm synths and thundering drums bring Master Yu to his knees and the netherworld. But who was Master Yu? Was it you? The myth lives on…

A1, Meteor Shower signals the shape of things to come, kicking off the EP with mesmeric, acid lines. Mycophilia (A2) is a deeper, driving cut, layered with rave wiggles and ethereal elements. A3 offers broken-beats, bleeps and bloops - ‘Overstatement (Space Edit)’ is a dizzying brain-tickler. On the flip, B1’s ‘Social Compost’, is a tripped out, warehouse wobbler. Rounding out the EP with a final acid cut, ‘Thalassa’ (B2), nods to early Detroit machine music with extraterrestrial influence. Snack Atoms appears as EABE’s latest signing with a bombardment of uptempo electro rollers. The EP is based on live performances in Helsinki’s Kaiku and Leipzig’s Distillery, creating a pleasantly coherent trip through the four tracks.
The title cut sets the pace with a bouncy beat and a driving bassline joined by wistful synths, topped off with a catchy lead as the powerful track picks up to full throttle – like a maglev train gliding through a neon-lit cityscape, raindrops in the window turning quick into colourful traces. The rest expands on the expertly conceived formula, drawing from elements of dub, trance and contemporary bass music. Not much is known about the protagonist who prefers to travel in the shadows, but the effortless craftmanship and penchant for melody shown here suggest they’ve been lurking in the underground for some time already.

Artists bio:

Andrey Sinitsin aka sinitsin started his musical journey as a drummer in a rock band. However, he has always been interested in experimenting with different genres, including electronic music. His interest in electronic music led him to dive deeper into the production realm of music creation and he began to understand how his favorite tracks were made. With this insight, he began writing music himself. He now mainly focuses on creating electro, techno, and IDM.

The Droid is the futuristic, dystopian, electro-funk moniker of 22 year old Ben Evans. The Droid is taking over with recent releases on Bass Agenda Recordings, Digital Distortions, KinETiK Records, Breakfast Musik BCN with much more to come later this year.
