Pure Space returns with our final release of 2022, delivered by none other than Zara - a warm light shining from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia).

Crafted in the midst of Australia’s last summer, these tracks capture the blissful and euphoric feeling of warm weather and the potential it brings…

Starting on an ambient note and progressing to drum & bass, the release seeks to take listeners on a transcendental journey to a freaky realm.

We start with Pirr, a track representative of dawn and the new beginnings it brings. It’s an eerie, yet anticipatory feeling lingers in the air as the rising sun diminishes the darkness and reveals the beauty of the landscape. Soft kicks coupled with bird song gently grasp the attention, effortlessly drawing you into the release.

Guitar and reverb drums define the second track, Idyll. Switching the mood to melancholia where the track meanders around floaty vocals creating a gentle fluidity throughout.

Entering the DnB realm, Quixotic combines driving hi-hats, wubs, bass to instigate movement. The floating female vocals carry you through the track guiding you on what feels like a utopian dream.

Synthesised drums are combined with heavy bass, arps and breaks to represent the peak of the journey. A chaotic, albeit warm track with and trippy moments in time.

As the sun sets once again, the arc of the journey ends on acid synths, arps, claps and hi hats on Elysium. Transporting the listener into a sleep, a moment of peace or back down to earth.

Delsin is pleased to welcome the unique sound experimentalist @MachineWoman, presenting a captivating five-track journey out to the glitchy fringes of techno. MW, with her force of personality, continues to push the boundaries of her practice, offering bold and innovative approaches. She skillfully interlaces her voice through disorienting processes, embodying the essence of her self-styled mechanical organism.

In her hands, drums with a tangible in-the-room feel become precision-engineered components and needlepoint synthesis writhes with uncanny organic logic. The EP delves into themes exploring human behavior both online and offline, the delicate palette of breakbeat techno, and the transformative journey of aging. As the EP’s title implies, transformations can be dramatic and entrenched elegant qualities in oneself can become violent overnight, whether in terms of your look, your mindset or your ability to connect with others.

Through this ambiguous intersection of Woman and Machine comes a playful danceable impulse and a tracky focus which will give DJs plenty to work with even as they edge the errant frequencies and twitchy rhythms into the mix. While it’s far from straight-laced and functional, this Machine jacks as hard as it jolts, and yet there’s a sensual quality to MW’s processed voice peeking through the crunchy melee of ‘I Received Your Email Today’ which softens the attack.

It calls back to some of her earliest work, occupying a strangely inviting late-night hinterland where it’s hard to tell the replicants from the humans.
