Esta música é para todos os que já se sentiram sozinhos numa cidade linda. É a banda sonora daquela hora da madrugada em que a Alfama está finalmente em silêncio, o Elétrico 28 parou, e a única coisa que se ouve é o frio da noite e o barulho das nossas memórias.

A voz é a parte mais importante. Cantei-a bem perto do microfone, como se estivesse a sussurrar-vos um segredo à janela. O refrão é o momento de maior vulnerabilidade: saber que não se deve chorar, mas a voz treme só de imaginar um "olá, que é feito de ti?". A cidade ouve tudo, desde a chuva leve até ao ruído do Tejo.

Espero que ponham repeat e deixem esta canção ser a vossa companhia naquela hora em que Lisboa vos parece mais pequena e pessoal. "Eu aprendi a esperar por mim." 😉

Genre-bending vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Reuben James announces his second EP Slow Down set to be released on 5th June, with the first single “My Line” out now.

The first single “My Line” features a stellar line up of some of the UK’s finest talent; RnB vocalist and producer Col3trane, East-London rapper Jay Prince, the inimitable London Community Gospel Choir lead vocalist Vula and jazz trailblazer Soweto Kinch.

Offering a journey into the visionary mind of one of the UK’s most promising talents, Slow Down draws on a multitude of influences across RnB, hip-hop, jazz and soul and comes as a reaction to the instant gratification of technology that keeps us constantly “switched on”. “Slow Down is a short body of work that can hopefully allow an escape into a sonic world”, Reuben explains. “It’s a collection of jazz inspired RnB, love songs and other sounds to relax the mind”.

Although perhaps best known for his ongoing collaborations with Sam Smith, which have included numerous world tours alongside cowriting songs for Smith’s 4 million-selling album The Thrill of it All, James has written for and performed with an array of international star acts including the likes of Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Herbie Hancock, Elton John, Tori Kelly, Little Mix, Disclosure and Liam Payne amongst many others.
