A tense jungle rhythm driven by an upright bass and paranoid jazz samples. A raw, unprocessed voice keeps repeating “you can’t do jazz with sample” — not as a melody, but as a warning.
“The Purist” reflects on the illusion of sonic purity and the impossibility of containing jazz within fixed rules.
The track openly nods to Brown Paper Bag by Roni Size & Reprazent, twisting its groove into something darker, cinematic, and urban.

When I heard for the first time this vocal I said "Damn! This will be for my winter afternoons". Outside it's snowing and I'm tasting a lot of flavoured blends of infusions.
Some breaks, some piano chords, wobble bass and guitar solo. Is that all!

I am going to attempt to make a mix every weekend for this series, exploring the depths of my crates and giving great music a chance to be heard and letting some forgotten tracks see the light of day!

People often think of the Balkans as a crossroads. With their busy trade and cultural routes, the Balkans have been linking the East with the West, the North with the South throughout the centuries. Now can you imagine someone setting up a tent in the midst of that bustling roundabout, in a place where all those roads converge in a swirling mix? Can you imagine, out of the blue, a tent with a wild illegal wedding party inside springing up in the middle of that crossroads, a jamming makeshift shelter which blocks the traffic until the break of dawn?
