This International Women’s Day, spend an hour deep in the passionate, versatile selections of Jay Carder.

There are numerous sides to Jay Carder that demonstrate a DJ, promoter and radio host truly at ease with their own taste. Describing her selections as a “concoction of heavier, leftfield bass and lighter, psychedelic techno”, this is the sort of vibe that Carder delivers for her contribution to Phantasy’s mix series.

For this bumping and classy hour, Carder connects her alignment with a resurgent UK underground transforming a legacy of garage and breaks - recent appearances on the decks have placed her alongside K-Lone and the Dr. Banana crew - with a trippy house aesthetic that’s more than familiar to Phantasy, just as Carder is to us. As you can see, she’s even repping the t-shirt.

Big ups to Arcade for contributing this expertly mixed hour slice (it’s been a long time coming). Lot’s of memories coming to the surface for me, of heady days smoking herb out the back of new mills school, where Nath still resides, with Dan Hamp, Joe Synkro & the Alan Johnson bois .. His mix blends gloopy 4x4 chuggers with dubbed out atmospherics and is built entirely out of the producers own tracks. Check out Arcades’ Bilberries & Mushrooms tape, Icosa on Blank Mind, and be sure to keep an eye out for the mans future releases. Enjoy! x

Phran is a DJ and producer from Caracas, Venezuela, residing in Barcelona, Spain. The Berlin label Klasse Wrecks has released three of his EPs, representing his raw, rave-influenced electro side. 

He also has a project called Dos Ritmos with Luca Lozano, presenting the duo’s shared appreciation for heavy percussion and worldly drums, sampled and mashed together to create a pan-national representation of polyrhythms and atmospherics.

He has also released on labels such as Hivern Discs and Butter Sessions.
