The Abyss duo are gearing up for there Ibiza dates and featured on Sam Devines guest mix on BBC R1 XTRA for Mistajam. Inspired by numerous VA release's already this year, we have decided to run an annual VA release called The Hype and here is Vol.1!

Adequate naming as there hype for this release started way back! Some tracks already hitting some of the best underground parties in the UK, some previewed on artist page's promoted dozens of inboxes. The art work released early. People are literally chomping at the bit for this one before it's even hit the ears!

This hype comes with good reason!

After getting Defected’s attention with his 'Disco Connection' release in 2016, Italian DJ Qubiko blossoms with this production debut for Defected Records. ‘These Days EP’ is a three-track release featuring some quintessential Defected moments. The title track, a collaboration with young fellow Italian K-909, has echoes of Kings Of Tomorrow’s style, with velvety female vocals over a club-focused 4/4. Likewise, ‘Set Me Free’ features gorgeous vocals and tight hi-hat accents giving it that classic house association, while ‘Raw Luv’ goes deeper with a steady disco build and a pacey feel-good vibe. It’s a timeless piece of work from the Defected newcomer.
