吉祥天母，亦稱瑪哈嘎哩，是密教中的護法神。以遊戲坐姿側身跨坐黃騾背上，凌空飛行峰巒血海之中，口裡咬著人屍，赤髮上一輪插有孔雀羽翎的彎月，騾下方則有海怪頭的摩竭女神及獅面空行母。吉祥天母兼有戰神屬性，周圍環繞龐大眷屬，右手上持三叉天杖，左手托泳血的嘎巴拉。身披人皮、頭戴骨飾，肚臍上有日形裝飾，威猛可怖。傳說原是古印度婆羅門教濕婆大神的女兒，有一次，當釋迦牟尼於入禪定之時，許多外道來擾。佛陀作法，降服群魔。瑪哈嘎哩即為其中之一，也被降服了，誓守護佛陀之法教，逐成為佛教護法神。亦為藏密具極忿怒身的女護法。由於天母威力顯赫，凡是破壞佛法者，都將被她征服和處置，因此各教派的大小寺院均供養其塑像、壁畫和唐卡。
