Jesus said that Christians are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The thing that we tend to miss is Jesus isn't telling us to become something. He is making a declaration that we are something. In Christ we are the instrument that God is using to preserve the world around us. In Christ we are the light that shines in the darkness. The truth is those who are in Christ have been radically transformed into something new! We just need to live that way! Listen to this week's message.

The main character Andy in the "Shaw-shank Redemption" summed up the theme of the movie when he said "It all comes down to this; get busy living or get busy dying".  For the Christian that is the heart of the matter! If we are a disciple of Christ then it is time that we put away the notation that our lives are about us and start doing what Jesus calls us to do which is to deny ourselves, take up our cross and get busy following Him. There is an expectation if you follow Christ that that you are to meet the worst that people have to offer with the best that God has to offer. Living in community with other people can be extremely difficult but we must always remember we are Ambassadors for Christ which means how we live and how we react to adversity impacts everyone around us.
