This song was inspired by our flight at home in Nova Scotia with a local bleached kraft pulp mill that's been dumping untreated industrial euent into a natural body of water at a place called Boat Harbour since 1968. It was once beautiful and pristine, made the short list to become a National Park in the 50's and had an abundant fishery. It is located beside our Pictou Landing First Nations community who no longer have safe water to drink from their wells and who can no longer swim and fish there.

You could drink the rivers and eat from every shore

There were dance halls all around there was one on Green Hill,

Blessed with an achingly distinct voice, Jadea Kelly’s music bridges the lilting country tinges of Iris DeMent with the darker influences of Portishead. Her second album, Clover is being released on her own label imprint — Darth Jadea — in Canada, distributed by IDLA, and has been licensed to Divergent Recordings for international release on May 21, 2013.

Jadea’s first album — the 2010 recording Eastbound Platform — earned a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for emerging artist of the year. Jadea has appeared on recordings by Catherine Maclellan and Protest The Hero and on stages with the likes of Stuart Maclean, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Whitehorse and Justin Rutledge.

The first full-length record from Tanzanian-Canadian artist, Alysha Brilla. All of the songs were written and produced by Brilla herself, enlisting Juno-Award winning engineers Mike Jones and Denis Tougas.

Alysha Brilla is a critically acclaimed Tanzanian-Canadian multi-disciplinary artist known for her musical mix of jazz, world and pop.  

Brilla performs on both guitar and piano. Her playful lyrics and on stage banter have garnered the attention of audiences internationally. The 2012 Leading Edge Arts Award winner has performed live at The Montreal Jazz Festival, The Mariposa Folk Festival and was recently a speaker at a TEDtalk.  Alysha Brilla’s song “Lifted” was featured on the television show “Degrassi; The Next Generation”, with other songs becoming a staple on showcase network’s television series “King”. U.K. award winning multi-disciplinary artist Luke Jerram featured Alysha Brilla in a video of her playing his installation street piano in Toronto for “Play Me, I’m Yours”.  Brilla is currently recording her second full-length album, to be released on her own label, “Sunny Jam Records” this summer. With plans to tour in 2013, music audiences have a lot to look forward to from this bright young performer.
