<big>Squirrel Quasar</big> (Tamiasciurus quasar**) plays together in a creative process that can only be described as equal parts convergence... and emergence: 

a sunshine-powered hip-hop psych-jam, with musical influences ranging from Link Wray and Prince to the Beastie Boys and the Allman Brothers Band.

Based in Vancouver, BC, the band consists of Joe McLeod (guitar/vocals), James Wallace (guitar/vocals), Edward Porter (bass) and Joe Watts (groove operator/vocals).

**So... what about the name? Tamiasciurus comes from the Greek "Ταμίας" meaning "steward," this Genus includes the Douglas squirrel (Tamiasciurus douglasii), considered by John Muir to be "by far the most interesting and influential of the red squirrel species." And quasar? A highly energetic active galactic nucleus, powered by the accretion of tremendous mass encircling a "black hole." Powerful stuff, to be sure.
