From the Dope Radio Album. Released 2000 but I think made in '98? Trying to be an electronic Earth, Wind and Fire and ended up more Tom Tom club. In the days when we still used some instruments.

Remix of "The Beat Goes On", Talvin Singh. One of them with some great stuff to work with. Had a vinyl promo so it may have gone out. 2000? 2001 maybe. This is not a great quality version sadly. Was a funny example of an obsession with string arrangements though. Bit much ;)

About 1999 ish. Carleen Anderson's voice on it's own on the DAT was a beautiful thing! Funnily enough about 10 years later glitchy, twitchy weirdness was ok ;)  FFRR weren't so sure back then  :D

Apparently Nothin' (Dope Remix)

Another from the Dope Radio album that stood out a bit. Again, went a bit doolally on the strings :D   This was 1998 so could be confused with 'speed garage' a fair bit. It's all about the crescendos and stabs in the latter half though  ;)  Always wanted to make a full-on disco version with the orchestral elements but.... not to be. Great to have our string band together on this work again. My arrangement this time. 

Vocals from the ace lady Angela Murrell who at the time was working with Tricky and The Stereo MCs. Gave her the verse lyrics and a very basic melody guide...and she did the whole vocal and chorus in one take. True Pro.

Married To Music

Another one where only the vocals were used. Got well received but no contest with legends like Todd Terry and Boris Dlugosch!  Proud of the latter half though. Loads of cranky analogue gear then.

My fave. Just a day in the studio with Martin Dawson and something ace came out. Weighted keys... as a trigger makes all the difference in all the playing, not just the Piano.

possibly ill advised wandering into 'jump up' when hanging around Jon Carter, released in 2002 on Saville Row. recorded the vocalist on the tiny island of Bequia.. which was rather ace. it was part of a 3 tracker called The Soca Trilogy that never got finished. 
Possibly for use at Carnival only.

Made in 1999 with my bessie mate Keith Binner and it just shows how optimistic everything was. We didn't care if we sounded a bit French or the words were joyful. How things change...
The title came long before the Ibiza club.
