After "Summer In Jakarta" and "Winter In Jakarta" it was time for another season comp by Jakarta as it's also our 10th birthday as a label. 15 unreleased tracks from Jakarta artists and people we are just friends with / like. Full release dropping as a free DLL in mid november. Some retailers will also have a free cassette tape version.

You know we have been bumping Rascal's stuff since he had 23 followers on soundcloud so it was a no brainer to have him on "Autumn In Jakarta" and he came thru with the heat.

Having hit a transition in music production, it is time to deliver some music, with a new setup and direction. Aiming for more of a complete sound this is the first part in a series of beats to help the build up to my fully vocal EP due late 2012. From the unlikely locale of central Tennessee, a young talent known as Sterfry emerges with a fresh take on the sounds that make up the musical DNA of Darker Than Wax, distilled into six tracks for his label debut - ‘Life pt.1’. The 23 year old producer and saxophonist fluidly traverses the realms of jazz, soul, house, and beat, freed from the structural restraints of traditional dance music - ‘Life pt.1’ is all about making music that comes naturally, music straight from the heart. This ethos can be heard throughout the release, as blistering saxophone and piano performances merge effortlessly with smooth synths and drum machines. On ‘Wayward1’, the artist enlists his sister’s talents on the vocal, adding another layer of honesty to the down-to-earth collection of tracks. ‘Life pt.1’ resonates equally well in personal listening as it does with an open-minded dance floor - a reflection of the young producer’s personal growth and musical depth.
