Phase Fatale is the Berlin-based techno project of Hayden Payne. Since 2014 the New York native has earned a reputation as a techno innovator, both for the broad spectrum of dystopian, gritty, industrial-laden electronics included in DJ sets as well as his deep understanding of synthesis and sound design in his own productions.

Phase Fatale has been turning heads with his debut album in 2017, and 12”s on labels such as Jealous God, Ostgut Ton, and its sub-label unterton. He has since settled into residencies at both Berghain in Berlin as well as 中 KHIDI in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

In 2018, Payne launched his own label BITE, where he introduced Soft Crash - the pi- oneering ‘Italo body music’ project in collaboration with Pablo Bozzi. In 2020, Payne released his second solo album Scanning Backwards on Ostgut Ton, while 2022 saw his third solo album and the widely anticipated debut album by Soft Crash.

Phase Fatale’s output as a selector, as well as his productions and curation on BITE demonstrate Payne’s unique musical vision, drawing from new and classic references: dark ambient drones contrasting with the raw, punchy dynamics of industrial and post- punk, cold wave aesthetics combine with 4/4 techno functionality – all stitched togeth- er meticulously with strong atmospheric sensibilities, careful and precise mixing

@Nole is a clear figure of the Madrid underground scene, leading Barro Records label where is more techno/Ebm industrial sounds can be identified and without forgetting that he is a resident of the Stardust Club in Madrid. In our opinion, he is one of the best DJs in Madrid in this style. Today he has recorded for us a super elegant mix for italo moderni and with a lot of influence between EBM and Electro, with a great club punch and above all with a unique style that's makes Nole unique in that scene. Hello folks, after a short break on Soundcloud and some fulminant Blank Wave parties with Perel, Shubostar and Lauer, we're back again with a highly anticipated double feature: Welcome Andi, the New York City-based DJ and producer, who is also founder of the dark synth and industrial party and label, Synthicide. She contributed this marvellous exclusive mix for our Blank Wave series and is also playing her debut in Frankfurt on our event on Saturday, June 16 2023, at ono2 accompanied by Shia LaBiff. 

Andi now holds her ninth-year residency at Brooklyn’s notorious venue Bossa Nova Civic Club. Her aesthetic combines her devotion to underground 1980s industrial, EBM, new beat, and sleazy synth whose dark beats create an exciting soundscape that is unarguably danceable. She has DJed all over the world and is known in niche music circuits for her ability to mix together older tracks with new ones to create a diverse and unique set. Additionally, Andi is part of the ItaloMatic crew, a resident at The Lot Radio, and a resident DJ at the dark 80s new wave night, Music For the Masses.

Her own productions aim to challenge the expectations within the confines of the masculine EBM genre, often focusing on the ideas of revenge and strength through a woman’s perspective. Andi released her first EP, Corpse to Corpus, on aufnahme + wiedergabe in 2020, the Torque Force split EP with Randolph & Mortimer on Mecanica Records in 2021 and recently the EP Compelling Evidence on a+w. Now available for pre-order via Mannequin Records is her Parafernales EP feat. Machino.

Zaatar زَعْتَر ’s music is the peculiar combination of both her origins : Moroccan and Belgian.

She finds her inspiration in the post punk and EBM movement of the late 80’ and early 90’. Her tracks are therefore built around a gritty and rough baseline that sets the mood for frenetic body dances. Melodies and sounds inherited from her home country -Morocco- completes her soundscape in a way that is her own. During her DJ sets she invites the public on a captivating journey from light to darkness, an oscillation between joy and melancholy sometimes punctuated by oriental melodies.

Arcade (@arcade-wro) known off-stage as Łukasz, is a deeply hidden figure in the Wrocław and Łódź underground dance music scenes. Preferring humility over social media fame, his musical journeys are marked by electrifying energy and a deep emotional bond with the crowd. He experiments with various genres, from breakbeat electro, EBM, dark disco to trance, progressive house, and hypnotic downtempo, displaying a versatility in style, rhythm, tempo and aesthetics.. 

On the promotional front, Łukasz co-founded 'Sygnały z Kosmosu,' a unique but short-lived event series that promoted Polish talent and showcased progressive, genre-blending sounds of trance, house, and italo disco. He's a part of 'Bracia Ufolec,' a duo he created with Primo Ultimo, added an element of sonic adventure to the series. 
An ally to Igrzyska Pizzy - a series merging a dance event with a culinary pop-up, serving a cutting edge pizza napoletana and balearic / italo delicacies at the same time. 

This mix features unmistakeable aesthetic of dark disco and EBM, lots of wavy vocals, driving arpeggiated melodies and dark bassliness mindling in the undergrowth of mechanical industrial techno.

We are pleased to welcome Sob Story to the Kaos Podcast Series. 

Sob Story is the main collaborative project of London-based producers and DJ duo Oliver and Vilhelm. Familiar faces within the city's clandestine corners, the two have respectively cut their teeth playing prominent parties across the capital including HTBX, Judgement Hall, UNFOLD and Aria.  The Sob Story project marries the oppressive melancholy of Vilhelm's body-music sleaze with Oliver's dystopian, steely EBM. Collectively cultivating their nuanced oeuvre, the pair's sonic landscape is composed of cold electronics, lacquered drums and gleaming synths. 

Sob Story play Kaos London on Saturday 16 September alongside Soft Crash. Their first Ep Doghouse is releasing on Khemia Records in September with remixes from ANFS and Harsh Mentor.

The series rages on this week with none other than Randstad! He is a producer and DJ alias of multidisciplinary artist Thomas van Linge. Aside from his many killer releases on the likes of Veyl, Pinkman Body Musick and many others, he is also the co-founder of well known labels such as BAKK, RUBBER, and the PLAFOND series. Although he is well known for his electro and EBM compositions, his talent and acumen know no bounds with more recent releases colouring outside of these lines.
