Nadia Marcus is a poet, vocalist, DJ and designer. She spins under the NM DJ moniker, and holds a residency at Berlin’s Refuge Worldwide radio station. Her musical range is wide, spanning spaced-out deep house cuts to liquid drum & bass – whatever the genre or style, the presence of groove and spirit is paramount, and has bumped out of systems across Berlin such as OHM, Tresor, Arkaoda and Sameheads. Marcus is co-editor of TABLOID Press, an imprint founded in Berlin in 2014. The publishing house maintains a focus on the text as a social space – for instance, in 2022 TABLOID released Breathing Room, a longform interview with Lakuti and Tama Sumo, focusing on pre- and post-pandemic dancefloor culture. Marcus’ poetry, art criticism and lyric journalism, often circling around the history and poetics of dance music, have also appeared in Arts of the Working Class, The Ransom Note and Edit. She has has also worked as a designer for numerous record labels including Uzuri, 3XL, wood//work and West Mineral Ltd..

Vol 4 brings you Carlo an underground elite, a connoisseur of house, an industry benchmark, and dear friend. Over two decades of unfaltering devotion to production and DJing, dishing out some of the finest slices of opulently textured techno along the way, Tokyo-based maestro DJ Sodeyama has been honing a sound signature both intricately hypnotic and boundary-pushing. Blending delicate melodic strains of electronics ranging from deep, ambient music to verbed-out, atmospheric techno, often laced with hints of jazz and soulful discoid expressions, his productions and mixes combine the satiny elegance of loungey daydream with that of more rugged, deep-diving dubs a la Basic Channel. From light to shade, and vice-versa, DJ Sodeyama builds pieces of music where the ever-changing lighting and shifting angles swath you in an oddly comforting headspace. A most fascinating trip for the body and soul.

On the program this time is my closing set at KelderKamp Kollektiv. The ones who follow my Instagram account know that this me and my friend’s own hosted party in my hometown Venray. The edition before I played earlier in the evening which meant that I had to play a little more softer than I did last Saturday. Beforehand, I wanted it to be banging and at a higher BPM to introduce everyone what my musical preference really is, so I compilated a more uptempo and high energy set. It turned out to be more epic than I could have expected and managed to record it for everyone to listen to. So here you go, I hope you like it!

Shinsuke Goto has honed his craft as a manager at Mitsuki, one of Tokyo’s most iconic
venues of the 2020s, while developing a flexible musical sensibility and refining his DJ
skils. Currently, he is responsible for curating the program at Mitsuki, where he also
runs AFTER LIFE, the venue’s only regular techno party, which has been held bi-monthly
since 2022. As a resident DJ, he has earned deep trust within the local scene.
Building on appearances at Rural, one of Japan’s leading festivals, and Wonderfruit, one
of the largest festivals in Asia, he has expanded his name and reputation internationaly,
performing at renowned Berlin clubs such as Tresor and Sameheads.
What makes Shinsuke truly stand out is his proactive approach and passion. He fuly
embraces both the inevitable eﬀects and the spontaneous moments of dance music,
transforming them into his unique DJ output. While rooted in techno, he is constantly
driven to incorporate new sounds. His deep selections demonstrate a sharp insight that
alows him to take control of the space, while his ability to create resonance can ignite
the dancefloor. At times, he even becomes a driving force that moves entire
communities. Sharply attuned to the “now,” Shinsuke guides his audience beyond, into
what lies ahead.
