''Electro is fundamentally modern. The coldness of the machine laid bare, a human attempt to express through circuits and wiring. Despite adhering to specific codes and norms, it is a sound that refuses to be pigeonholed. It is with this in mind that Shipwrec has collected a wealth of international talent to showcase their own vision of this bracing style. Serge Geyzel incises from the needle drop, the acid blistered "Still There" is sliced and quartered by scissoring snares. Endfest changes the trajectory with the modular warmth of "La Chouffe" before the lines change and Manasyt delivers the darkened angles and punishing percussion of "Row Hammer." Andrew Red Hand maintains the shadowy synthlines of his predecessor, industrial undertones bubbling to the surface in distortion-soaked aggression. The mood shifts with Alpha Visitor. Crystalline chords are punctured by crisp drum patterns, stabbing keys and broad arcs unveil a world of sci-fi inspirations. The finale comes from Jauzas the Shining. District #009 - DJ Shipwrec (Shipwrec Records)

By now Dutch label Shipwrec has well and truly established itself as a go-to outlet for excellent modern electro. As such, it makes perfect sense that their next release – a special one-sided pressing - is from revered electro specialist Anthony Rother. It sees the man offer up some pure dancefloor fire that is part techno, part electro, but wholly awesome. What’s more, the blank b-side of this extra boutique 180g vinyl will be silkscreen printed and will come in a special sleeve. It will be a limited run, with no represses, and is the start of a new series of such releases from Shipwrec. 
The track, entitled 'Balkonien', is a broody affair from the off, with a supple, rubbery bed of kicks down low and a molten synth line up top. As things unfold, a nebulous network of celestial pads spiral about, the drums bounce more and lots of sinewy machine lines dance about and have you doing the same. It’s an instant modern classic full of electronic soul, frankly!

Illektrolab has been missing in action for seven years. An electro machine, this Satamile alumni went rogue; ducking under the radar in 2007. Now found he’s ready to return to the front line. Four weapons make up Illahertz. Clipped beats break and reform, basslines bubble and bulge as computer funk is lanced by pared steel. Drums race in eerie future wastelands, fizzing static and samples circling before acid rains down. Future and past influences sharpened into dangerous electro blades by a prodigal son.

Illektrolab - Illahertz EP [Forthcoming}

A new Funckarma 12" on a label from Nijmegen (the Netherlands) called SHIPWREC.
The 12" is going to be called the "Reasch EP". It will be released around september 2010 and its the official follow up for Vell Vagranz.
It will contain an Electro track (Reasch), a Drum & Haze track (TRrnt), a Dubstoned track (Spud Bencer) and a Leftfield track (Grone).

7am. Tilburg. Black room. Strobe light. Dutch Soundsystem Wirwar. "Party Like It's '96" celebrates 23 years of musical debauchery, rinsing BPMs and battering bodies in forests, squats or wherever a PA system could be plugged in. Five tracks from five different aliases make up this descent into drum beat battery. Noses are up against sweat drenched wall from the needle drop, the thundering pace of Trippy D’s maniacal offering being elbowed in the ribs by Bart Bral’s nosebleed inducing “No Shit, Sherlock!” Distortion slices into squalid acid lines in the blazing “Water On Mars” by RAF before broken beats are blended and blitzed by Just So Nah. The night, or morning, comes to an end in Roel’s nightmarish fairground ride. “Wurlitzer Express” minces chiptune cuteness with splintered snares, cracked kicks and mutated percussion to leave hearts, minds and souls thoroughly stained.

As we further explore shapes of deep and emotive electronic music, Photic Fields proudly presents the return of Leonid. This anonymous producer only appeared a couple of times in the last 5 years on Sistrum and Statik Recordings, such a commitment to a ‘quality over quantity’ approach is pretty unique and remarkable. Despite this low output, his well-considered and delightfully crafted works are greatly appreciated and have impressed quite some folks. This record features 3 new tracks by Leonid, which all pushes down into the depths of 'soulful' house and techno music. Each of them does this in its own way but they’ve got one thing in common: they are all overloaded with warmth and emotions. Pure and calm deepness, which is soothing for our restless minds.
