DJ GEMINI GILLY is a Midwest-based DJ and curator. Growing up on a variety of genres from her older brother's collection (East Coast Hip-Hop, Southern Hip-Hop, Funk, Disco, 90s R&B), she gained a love for music at a young age, occasionally stealing his CDs to listen to her favorite tracks. After countless times of being the designated AUX cord operator, she recognized that DJing/curating was her true passion and embarked on her journey to DJ GEMINI GILLY.
 
DJ GEMINI GILLY fuses her #BlackGirlMagic and love for black music with creative mixing and blending to create an eclectic set that brings people together. DJ Gemini Gilly is a member of the World Champion Milwaukee Bucks DJ Squad. Additionally, since teaching herself how to DJ in 2018, DJ GEMINI GILLY has performed for the Wisconsin Badgers, Soho House, Summerfest World Festival, Black Futures Lab, and Unfinished Legacy.
 
Beyond DJing, DJ GEMINI GILLY has her master's degree in social work and actively advocates for black folx. She hopes that she can inspire other black youth to take their passions and translate them into careers.

DJ Bizzon is an award-winning DJ known for his original edits, turntablism, and dynamic sets at concerts, festivals, and events nationwide. He’s opened for stars like Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion, DJs for the Milwaukee Bucks, and is a producer for DJCity. With over a decade in radio and a global following on Twitch, Bizzon is a force on stage, on-air and online. Also an educator and activist, he teaches youth DJ classes and authored The Hal Leonard DJ Method.

Girls Rock Milwaukee is a non-profit day camp designed to empower girls of all backgrounds through music education and performance. During the intensive one-week day camp in Milwaukee, WI, girls ages 8-16 of all skill levels learn an instrument (guitar, bass, drums or vocals), form a band, write a song and perform at the end of the week at a showcase for family, friends and fans.

The songs were written and performed by each band during our first session that ran August 5-9, 2013. They were recorded at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Helen Zelazo Center.

Our Mission:
We are dedicated to creating a positive environment that builds girls’ self-esteem and fosters leadership, life-skills development, and independent thinking while cultivating a supportive community of female peers and mentors.

Other Information:
During the week campers receive small-group instruction on instruments and practice with their bands. Girls also take workshops about merchandising, women in rock, conflict resolution, women and cultural identity, leadership and other skills that young women need to take over the world! Classes are taught by an all volunteer staff of Milwaukee-area musicians, teachers, artists, crafters, business owners and community organizers.
