The name is based off of the Greek word "stochastic." In music, stochastic (or random) elements can be generated by mathematical processes. I believe that there is a mathematical or methodical but random process to creating music, so Leash (an original member) and I changed the "stoch" to "shock" due to our genre of music. .

I was just a kid with a Fisher Price cassette player/recorder.  That toy evolved into recording random vocals or sounds on my family PC in the living room when I was 14.  As I grew, I became more involved than I had ever expected.  I begun singing/rapping/producing/engineering and my High School years transformed because of it.  After graduating from Full Sail University, I released a full length album under the name 180 Proof and produced songs for all sorts of underground artists while obtaining an underground Philadelphia record deal.  Before I was able to complete my second album, my girlfriend and I had our first child and my life changed.  I was then working in show production as a stage hand and a lighting designer.  I transformed that into a DJ career while working telecommunications, still dabbling occasionally in creating my own music.  NOW, I'M BACK AS SHOCK!BANG! AND I WANT IN! Need music to sing/rap to? Need a track for a commercial? Need something for your video productions? Need me to mix a party mixtape for you? Whatever your audio (or lighting) needs, feel free to drop me a line.
