Eclectic Images mvt 4-Sheer Elation

Cumulus Humilis is the scientific name for the picturesque clouds in the summer sky. This piece is meant to evoke the images that one may see in these clouds on a warm summer day.

This piece was written for the then current ensemble of varying playing abilities. It needed to be functional and easy to put together but also includes the unique aspect of using bird whistle and the vocalist as an instrument rather than a primary soloist to illustrate a sunrise.

An arrangement of Nepal's National anthem for flute, trombone, and piano.

This was written for the COmposer Quest Olympics. Nepal is a country filled with lots of diversity. I tried to illustrate this by including instruments of different families and registers.

This piece was premiered by the Fredonia Concert band of SUNY Fredonia NY, Raymond Stuart, Conductor on September 27th, 2018.

Of Wizards and Dragons (2012,2018) is a programmatic work inspired by the first book of The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede.  Princess Cimorene, an atypical princess bored of mundane royal life, elects to become a dragon’s princess by allowing herself to be captured. In this story, the Wizards are the “bad guys” that can only be melted with soapy water mixed with a little bit of lemon (represented by the clarinet run in the Battle section). Keeping with the mood of the story, the piece contains a balanced mixture of drama, humor, and a wee bit of romance.

The original clarinet solo was composed in 2012 for Chris Nutter, a close friend and talented clarinetist. The wind band version is a combination of a transcription and orchestration with a little bit of new composition to add a unique aspect and more dimension to this version of the piece.

Today< I started with an uncommon interval to start with- a Major 7th.  This is what became of it.

Day 4- 21 Days of VGM- A Weighted Decision

I have no idea why I called it Sandwich Dream. I only remember writing it a few years ago when I finally upgraded my FInale and wanted to experiment with the shiny new instrument and sound options.


The instrumentation is harp, flute, and violin and may or may not be playable.

I took A ship's Calling- originally a folk style song I wrote from the viewpoint of a ship lost at sea, and arranged the melody, and expanded it a bit for Brass Quintet.

String quartet that is meant to be an overture to a  Porgressive rock song written in my head. The continuo in the cello is a nod to Rush bassist Geddy Lee, as I tried to emulate his style of playing in my writing of this piece. Enjoy!
