Laylla Dane emerged from the blooming rave culture in the early 2000s, devoting herself to the dance floor and proving that dedication paves the path to recognition, no matter where you come from. Two decades later, fans and peers all across Europe respect her flawless mixing, well-crafted sets, and “quality over quantity” commitment.

As Laylla joins our podcast series, she not only aligns with our ethos but also unveils her most adventurous self. The mix begins as a bold observation of the melancholically peculiar corners of her collection. Barcelona based Ukrainian O’FourtyFour aka Pahatam has been making his way through the underground jungle for some time now and at present he is nearing a new level. Being a part of the resident team of Closer has meant that he has been able to flourish into the forward thinking artist you see before you. Having built a solid name for himself under his previous moniker Evgeny has now added releases on labels such as Sequalog and Amanita Gems to his discography.

Wading into our newest addition to the InSession series O'FortyFour wastes absolutely no time at all in setting up an outrageous vibe. Industrious bleeps meet angular basslines head on where they do battle against the rising tide of thunderous drums and percussion. For those of you that have not made the trip to Closer or Brave Factory this mix will act as a snapshot into the obscene energy levels that can be found at every area of the sprawling events.

With over 15 years of playing records and running the record store so loved by the most discerning diggers, it’s no surprise that his knowledge of electronic music will match one of a librarian. That perfectly shows in Shakolin’s DJ sets abounding in old and new sounds - functional yet never straight-up club music, his records are a journey that’s deep and mystical, groovy and freakish. With exceptional easiness, he weaves them into powerful, punchy, and infectious dance stories.
