I grew up in a small East Texas town with very traditional southern values, my grandfather was in a Country Western band and while they really just played small events for fun he always had guitars and musical instruments lying around. It was about the age of 10 when I really started getting interested in trying to play but this was also about the same time he got cancer and passed away. All the while the grunge music scene was slowly gaining popularity and MTV was playing music videos from all the great rock and metal artists of the 90’s. I instantly fell in love with anything that rocked and went against the grain. It just seemed to share the same angst and rebellious attitude I held in my heart and I really connected to that.
