Waaaas?? Shotgun Wedding sind gar keine Nord-Berliner Rap-Crew? Stimmt! Einige Berliner werden das zwar nicht wahrhaben wollen – doch hinter dem Namen versteckt sich nichts Geringeres als feinster Alternative Rock, der in Kombination mit Pop-Elementen dazu einlädt, dem energiegeladenen Sound der Band zu folgen. Melodiöser Gesang trifft auf effektreiche Synth- und Gitarrenklänge, die aber insgesamt ihren Rock-Charakter niemals verlieren und sich so als Ohrwurm perfekt in der Gegend herumtragen lassen. Bass und Schlagzeug treiben die Songs kraftvoll voran, es darf aber auch mal experimentiert werden: „straight“ und dennoch abwechslungsreich, lautet die Devise.

Die noch recht frische Schrotflinten-Hochzeit ist 2014 aus einer – irgendwie komischen – Dreierbeziehung der Schulfreunde Simon, Max und Alex entsprungen. Sie fanden schnell Gleichgesinnte: Seit Anfang 2015 ist Jan der Mann an den Drums. An der Spitze der Band: Anca.

‘Shotgun Wedding’? To fans and musicians in Berlin, that might sound pretty much like the name of a rap crew based in the northern district of Germany’s capital (Wedding). However: don’t get us wrong, Berliners! This band neither deals with forced marriage, nor do we cover the tracks of famous hip hoppers. It’s all about decent alternative rock, flavoured with a collection of catchy pop tunes inviting the listener to indulge in Shotgun’s energetic music.

Melodic vocals are joined by vibrant synths and guitars, floating between soft chords and heavier riffs. Our major theme is rock, driven by powerful drums and straight bass lines. Still, experimenting with other influences and approaches often seems worthwhile.

The wedding itself happened only recently. Initially formed in 2014 as a – somewhat odd – tripartite relationship among schoolmates Simon, Max and Alex, two additional members soon joined the team. Singer Anca entered to lead the boys’ club a few months later. Jan started out as a new drummer in January 2015.
