What do you do when there´s a snake inside 
Your campervan?

We can´t go on 
With a snake inside 
Oh no 
Stop!
To empty our house 
Right by the Rus roundabout

Yet the snake doesn’t come out 
We go on?
No! Are you crazy?!
I ain´t driving around 
Now I know there´s a snake inside 

Curious spectators at a café 
Come by to ask 
What’s going on?

We ring the Police - the Fire Brigade
No answer 
Other locals keep on coming
Advising
Burn something! Some cardboard
Still no snake  
Maybe it’s gone?

No! I can’t go on!
I know it´s inside

Hitting the bonnet
Breaking a light 
And there! There! 
You see the snake!
Its head sticking out

Snake in Shkodra

The Very Still Fly 
 
There is something in me 
That I cannot grasp, yet. 
It keeps on churning relentlessly
A restlessness - nervousness 
And at times an immense pain!
Very shifty. 
 
Instead of moving, going somewhere or 
Doing something to distract myself from it 
Today I sit
On the white-hot terrace under a shade;
A heavy wind is flying 
Around me. 

I sit and sit 
Till like a veil lifting
I see the fly
Deep black and thin 
With a very slight green shimmer;
Its legs twisted on the ground
Firmly securing itself from the wind;
It too is still
But more effortlessly than me, it seems. 
 
Peering at it for quite awhile 
Wondering how it can be so still?
In a brief second the wind carries it over 
Next to my leg 
And here we are, me and the fly 
Still
Meditating together.

I sit absorbed in its stillness 
Unceasing
I thought flies are supposed to move about? 
Your stillness fly inspires me 
To remain here, next to you
And the unknown unwanted rush inside 
Why?! It eases
As though being squeezed out. 
 
After some time, 
I open my eyes and see you fly still here!
Rubbing your legs in the air,
So I too 
Un-stretch from lotus 
Folding over 
To release my body. 

How sweet! 
How rich!
How sweet! 
How rich!
To be inspired by you fly

The Very Still Fly

Going For Refuge 

On this blistering sunny day 
Heat strikes us 
Reminding me of our weakness and your strength
 
We have no control
I have no control
 
Right here and now 
I will only observe 
Your beauty 
 
So I do not forget that there is a higher form
And that we are but tiny entities of you
Whichever God you are

Like the ever-so-slight sparkle 
Of the small, secluded Lotus Pond
You are a secret revealing

Only to those who open their eyes
Letting go of their many selves
Of boundaries and the I.

For after all
What has science shown us 
Even after all these years

Just what you already know!

We have but grasped 
An atomic glimpse of you
Of your creation and of ourselves 

So, all I can truly do 
Is work on bettering this mind and body 
To see - feel you in me - in all

For only a loving, kind, wise God 
Gives us such beauty - such magic

One Day

For those of you who experience or have experienced ´Lucid Dreaming´, you know well then that the boundary between reality and dream can become blurred….Which depending on your state of mind can be a magical, peaceful experience or at the other end of the spectrum, a rather frightening one. 

I have been experiencing Lucid dreaming, including ´Out of Body Experiences´ and ´Sleep paralysis´ since a child; it is only in the recent years that I have realised what significant role they play in one’s healing and transformation. 

And perhaps in some way or other, aiding us to connect more with that ´magnetic sense´, that we all have deep inside our subconscious. 

Here´s a tale for you :)

´The Gecko and Grackle´

On the balcony 
Of a warming yellow meditaranean house
I am standing; 
Admiring a fiery lilac dusk 

In a whirlwind 
From the lemon tree below 
Out comes fiercely flying 
A lanky, glossy blackbird with an iridescent blue head 

A grackle!

Zooming quite sternly 
Over the Tibetan prayer flag 
Draped over the balcony rail 
And before I even know it 

Diving directly into my head?!
With such a force;
Pushing me behind  
My heart is racing in fear and shock

It can´t be!

Yet – yet the skurrying - twittering
Only keeps on ampliefy-ing 

Really 
Does this mean – 
My head is a nest or a trap?

I breathe; smiling  
Gathering enough courage
To dip my hands in my hair 
Searching for this strange grackle

At last cupping and letting him go! 
Though, to my surprise 
He keeps falling-falling –
Right-right down 

For a split second 
I think he will die!

No grackle 
Fly!

Just a few centimetres from striking the ground 
He sweeeeps up 

Phew!

Except, the grackle doesn´t stop 
Coming up and up;
There´s nowhere for me to go!
And in he comes lunging

Pulling me to and fro
I gasp, dipping my hands inside my head 
Of hair;
Seeking this mischievous grackle 

Please fly off 
My head is not your nest nor is it a trap!?

He falls exactly in the same way
As though about to hit the floor 
That for a second time I scream 

No don´t die 
Fly! 

Almost grazing the patio 
At lightning speed  
He swoooops up 
I sigh 

Good you didn´t die! 

But - he keeps going 
Shooting shooting like a star – 
Right into my head, again
Circling - chirping about in there 

Really?

I breathe deeply 
Reaching my hands into my head 
Of hair; 
Rummaging for this sprightly grackle

To free him; just as before
He drops 
So quick - so fast 
This time I avoid looking 

Is he going to die? 

Turning - 
The grackle´s facing me!
With his piercing yellow dot eyes 
And there he goes 

Leaping in, returning inside 
I laugh 

What? Grackle!  
Please let me be!

In disbelief and still a tinge of fear 
Once more, ducking my hands inside my head 
Of hair; 
Hunting  

This can´t go on! 

Enshrouding him
I spot my fingers´ stained 
In sparkling blue magnetite!
Then down he goes again 

Falling and falling – 

WHOOSH!

No Grackle! 

I have no time to jump out of the way!
And here he is - back inside my head 
Already pulling me to and fro 

Another deep sigh 

We do this a couple more times 
Before I wake

Now, for the last two nights 
In my bedroom
There´s been a little gheko 
The colour of murky water along with three leopord spots
Whistling to me secret lullabies….

The Gecko and Grackle

Për ata prej jush që përjetoni tashme ose keni përjetuar 'Ëndërrim të kthjellët', ju e dini mirë atëherë se kufiri midis realitetit dhe ëndrrës mund të bëhet i paqartë….E cila në varësi të gjendjes tuaj mendore mund të jetë një eksperiencë magjike, paqësore ose në anën tjetër të spektrit, një eksperiencë shume e frikshme.

Unë kam përjetuar qysh në fëmijëri ëndrra të qarta, duke përfshirë 'Eksperienca jashtë trupit' dhe 'Paralizën e gjumit'; vetëm vitet e fundit e kam kuptuar çfarë rol të rëndësishëm luajnë ata në shërimin dhe transformimin tone. 

Dhe ndoshta në një mënyre, duke na ndihmuar të lidhemi me atë 'shqisën magnetike', që ne të gjithë e kemi thellë brenda nënndërgjegjes sonë.

Këtu është një përrallë për ju :)

Shpresoj të kënaqeni nga 
´Hardhuca edhe Zogu i kaltër´

Në ballkon e një shtëpie mesdhetare 
E lyer me në një verdhë ngrohëse
Unë jam në këmbë;
Duke çmuar një muzg jargavan i zjarrtë	

Në një vorbull
Nga pema e limonit poshtë
Del duke fluturuar i vrazhdë
Një mëllenjë hollak me lustër, edhe një kokë e kaltër të ylbertë

Një ´grackle´!

Ngjitet vrik përpjetë dhe boll i rreptë
Mbi flamurin e lutjes tibetian
Që është mbështjellë mbi hekurudhën e ballkonit
Edhe para se ta kuptoj

Aj me xhuhet direkt në kryetën temë?!
Me një forcë të tillë;
Se më shtynë mbrapa 
Zemra po me rrah fort nga frika dhe tronditja

Nuk mund të jetë!

Megjithatë, xhirimi i shpejtë dhe cicërimi 
Vazhdon të përforcohet

E vërtet
Do me than se – 
Kryti jem asht një fole apo një grackë?

Unë marr frymë dhe me një buzëqeshje
Pas mbledhur guxim të mjaftueshëm
Të fus duart në flokë
Duke kërkuar për këtë zog kaltër të çuditshme

Më në fund ë kapi në grusht dhe ë lëroj!
Veç se për habinë temë
Vazhdon tu ra dhe tu ra - 
Kret - Kret poshtë

Për një pjesë të sekondës
Unë mendoj se do të vdesë!

Jo zog i kaltër
Fluturo!

Vetëm disa centimetra sej bjën tokës

Po aj nuk ndalohet

Moter dhe vlla

Nana jonë Vjosa, 
lumi i fundit i egër në Evropë
Shumë shpejt mund të mos jetë ma - 
Aja po kjanë për ndihmën tonë
ju lutemi ndani hidhërimin e saj të madh
kështu që erërat e çojnë larg
te në secilin vesh
që duhet të dëgjohet
e vërteta - 
si një ninullë ëmbëlsuese qetësuese

Vjosa - Lumi i Fundit i Egër i Evropës

Growing up in Albania, I remember my warrior grandma and her humble home in Hoti I Ri, on a cliff above the same river valley that runs through archaic Mesi Bridge. I remember well those warm nostalgic evenings eating heavenly figs along with other tasty fruits and nuts; hearing the trickling water. On the other side, I remember the hardships she faced during the peak of summer when the river became waterless….dry and barren.  

And to think the same thing is happening in 2024 and on top to ´Europes Last Wild River´!

Hoti i Ri was written a while back whilst also growing up in lovely London yet here I am reading it now. 

Vjosa! Shushica! There are people who hear your cries 🙏

Hoti I Ri 

Nandaj*
Your kind face melts me 
I am leaking like those overripe figs dripping in golden sap;
My hand pushes away a suckling bee.
I watch it – limping into the evening light; 
Into the sounds of a young night

Hoxhas* sacrosanct call from across the waterless river

Chirping crickets
Warm gushes of wind
Hair stroking my face
Diluting gunshots 
Chirping crickets

Remember this is Hot i Ri* – this is Shqiperia*.
 
A distant chocking engine 
And the wind again – 
Stroking my hair away from my ear 
to hear well the young nights tapestry 
Ah wind - 
What an attentive and gentle lover you are…
And oh the sky - 
Eternal shades of blue 
Woven into specks of pink, waves of red and circling yellows. 
Oh my!

The howling starts and Hoxha ends 
And the moon
How usually everywhere I look out 
for you 
But here you are ignored, forgotten amongst all this. 

And mountains like gallant trees 
Sprouting to the sky to Allah or Zoti 
Let me remember this 
For when I return to Babylon;
For when I grow old. 
Nandaj, will I yearn for this, 
For this moment? 
Or will Babylon change me? 
So that I will crave continuous change rather than this freeze - 
This frozen beauty…..

Nandaj – Grandma from the mums side. In Albanian (Shqip) there is a distinction from which side of the family the relatives are from, i.e you have two names for grandma, grandma on mums side and grandma on dads side. The same goes for grandpa, auntie, uncle...
Hoxha – Imam, the prayer leader of a mosque.
Hoti I Ri – A village on the outskirts of Shkoder, north Albania, very close to Ura Mesit, the Bridge of Mesi. 
Shqiperia – Albania. 
Allah – God in Arabic. Interestingly, the Bektashi Order is headquartered in Tirana, Albania. 
Zoti – God in Albanian. Albania is unique in the sense you can see mosques and churches literally side by side.

A Sweet Chestnut Death

My interest in understanding illness, health and how the mind is under related lead me into the path of Neuroscience, and for a while into one of its dark sides, animal experimentation, sorry, "working with animal models" (even though I am a vegetarian and was also back then). 
With hopes of drawing light to our Mental Health, as a society, I feel a calling to share this poem ´My Guinea Pig is Schizophrenic´ and more to come….
Any system based on violence to acquire knowledge in order to improve healthcare or life quality or simply just for the sake of learning, needs to be revised. 
Surely, in order for us to call ourselves humans, we have to understand that by studying nature in the exterior sense only, we miss out on a divine mystical incomprehension. 
Let us put to use the Limitless Capacity of the Human Mind in a Healthy & Sustainable Manner!

My Guinea Pig is Schizophrenic 

My guinea pig is schizophrenic 

He has this little black bag, 
The zip is sewn tight and 
There are staples along it. 

Each night, in the meager candlelight 
I watch his confident mad claws pick them out, 
Checking his identity is still in there?

I call it the mad bag. 
One day, I looked in it -
In grave anticipation to find 
A blue wrinkled plastic bag
Tied at a knot. 

Pick. Pick. 

I had to rip at it, 
A mad guinea pigs knot is impossible. 
Underneath, another plastic bag, 
Green this time; smelled like crushed 
Brazil nuts, paracetamol and trip-tans. 

Two more knots. 

A few plastic bags later, 
There lay a schizophrenic, naked: 
Skimpy torn papers with his name on it, 
And a scanty picture of him, he looks almost normal. 

The rest I am not sure, 
I heard his mad footsteps up the stairs, 
And in a hurry I clumsily stuffed his identity 
Back; intact with his smug looking knots. 

Now he keeps his mad bag as an extra limb and pillow.
