"Months of lockdown boredom and a lack of nightclubs, house parties and festivals, chemically reinforced togetherness and gurns, has resulted in a new 12” by Paul & Shark.

The first single from the record titled ‘Roxanna_Break_Stuff’ incorporates memories of acid bright neons, the ubiquitous smileys, baggy trousers and bucket hats. Pumping drums, funky synth work and a standout vocal edit makes this one a unique and catchy piece of rave music culture.

The track comes accompanied with a remix by Japan’s rising UK garage producer Stones Taro, who's been featured lately in several places with his on target vinyl releases and precise DJ mixes.

We can only hope, but maybe we are on course to experience a “summer of rave” not unlike that of 30 years ago."

Sound Transitions is proud to present an EP from Selfhood. The EP, titled Stay Calm, is four tracks of sumptuous electro - two originals backed with two remixes by J-Wax and Bailey Ibbs. The four tracks that make up the EP are bright, sunny, fun, and full of movement. This is hands-in-the-air dance music; perfect for the warmer months and picturesque sunsets. Though the EP is only two tracks and two remixes, there is a great deal of variety throughout while still keeping a similar propulsive, uplifting feeling going in each tune. JUDDER launches its own label with the first release being a VA "Judder Compilation #1". Expect nine tracks, exploring bass-oriented sonics around the 130–160 bpm range, from the likes of both worldwide acknowledged and up-and-coming artists. A huge palette of sounds and different moods meticulously flows through each track from the very beginning to an end.

The duo Poima opens the release with hypnotic and viscous swampy vibes, at the same time An Avrin brings groovy dancefloor-ish breakbeat settings. JUDDER resident Oddkut comes in with a percussive-driven heavy-hitter, while Nattah showcases her skills with unpretentious yet deeply pervasive stepper "False Trail". DUBRAW's very own Skotcha delivers pure shellings with a skippy grime-influenced "Shells" and, as usual, Champion Sound are ready to bury the soundboy with nothing but a straight belter. Flint's minimalistic approach to production continues to unfold through an ever-swirling and ever-twisting "Amok" and so does Dawn Razor's with a very funky and dubby dancefloor tool. The one to complete the compilation is Kapha, sharing an enigmatic clicky juke-track "Act & Pause"

The first instalment in the series of JUDDER compilations has brought together a unique selection of talented artists and musicians in order for you to dive deeply into the bass-driven experimental sound.

Local Action is very proud to present Rushing 1621, the first EP from a transatlantic meeting of minds and styles from two of our favourite artists: Om Unit and James Bangura. 

Based in Bristol, Om Unit is a titan of UK soundsystem music, pulling footwork, hip-hop, jungle, bass, techno, breaks and more into wild new shapes across an illustrious 15-year plus career.

DC’s James Bangura meanwhile has emerged as one of the most exciting artists on America’s east coast, releasing solo heat on labels like Incienso and !K7 and regularly touring the world as part of the Black Rave Culture collective, drawing from regional club styles across the States. 

The EP’s title Rushing 1621 is a reference to both artists’ area codes, so UK-meets-US synergy is the name of the game here (and if you know Local Action, you probably already know that this sort of thing is our catnip). Garage, house, breaks and even moments that recall early ‘00s proto-dubstep and dub-techno are all present, but really, it’s both artists’ immaculate drums and flawless production that drives this thing. Some records just feel unimpeachable, and this is one.

sept7 'Résilience' is a colossal 5-track EP featuring a remix by Kessler. This collection of pure peak-time bangers is stamped with the  producers signature sassy rave aesthetic. The artist's ability to seamlessly weave various genres brings a dynamic range of elements to the table, showcasing a production style that defies classification.
'Rush' kicks off the EP with an insanely catchy stripped-back bassline, hop-scotching percussion, and elegant discordant synths peppered with dope vocals. 'Future Step' fuses techno, bass, and breakbeat, veering into madness with its revving engine sound effects and slick dub samples. It's a Lewis Hamilton-approved banger. 'Resilience' shines with warmth from the start, featuring beautiful vocal samples that give way to a world-class heavy bass track. The oxymoronic tension between soft and big is a standout feature.'Check One' showcases tripped-out vocal samples and a clipped bassline, forming a dance-heavy groove with its 4/4 floor beat and subtle background breaks. 

Kessler's remix of 'Resilience' is a mind-altering, transcendental masterpiece. The Northern Ireland producer displays his insane drum and percussive capabilities, fusing modern dubstep head-banging sounds with UK Bass influences.
