Steppers & Sleepers is back just in time for spring with our fifth release.

Without further ado, we present to you a stellar duo hailing from Switzerland by the name of https://soundcloud.com/pressure-mode.

These two talented producers caught our ears as solo artists first hand (https://soundcloud.com/gregorydub & https://soundcloud.com/safak-rarebeats) and as we dug deeper we learned that they also produced as a duo. Gregory and Safak have been friends for near on a decade and they are heavily inspired buy 4x4 house from way back when. The MPC200XL is there weapon of choice and these jazz collectors certainly have endeared themselves to us. Welcome..

On remix duty we present to you an artist we hold in high regard and one that is close to our hearts at Steppers & Sleepers, https://soundcloud.com/chris-wj. Formerly of Coventry (UK) and now Massachusetts, United States, https://soundcloud.com/chris-wj is somewhat of an enigma to his following.

He concerns himself with rhythm and delivery, thanks to exposure to a percussionists ideal at a young age. His discography is modest at best, but his armory of unreleased edits and productions is mighty. His roots are subliminally Erick Morillo and early Strictly Rhythm. https://soundcloud.com/chris-wj is very much apart of our DNA here at Steppers & Sleepers as he more than anyone else is largely responsible for effecting the early years of https://soundcloud.com/augustus_gloop as a mentor. A lot more to come from this talented producer and DJ.

For the second remix on the 'STS EP' we bring to you the Mainz based https://soundcloud.com/tilman. A soulful guy and a producers, producer. We have been waiting a while to have https://soundcloud.com/tilman affect us with his wizardry and he blesses us with a truly inspiring acid house take on the 'Beat MPC'. If you collect vinyl then you will know of his https://soundcloud.com/klamauk label founded in 2008 home to a string of impressionistic cuts. a producer very much in love with samples, synthesizers and drum machines and very much in our hearts.

Joran van Pol - Withdraw

Hamburg based producer Hatzler’s EP is crafted to keep the dancefloor moving, with two original tracks and two remixes. ‘SkyT’ unfolds with a rolling groove that ascends abruptly into a throbbing, trance-inducing piece peppered with cavernous synth pads. ‘KreaT’ lays down hard hitting thumps from the get-go, doling out an undulating synth with whirring atmospherics. It’s these whirs that end up combining harmoniously with the swirling synth hook, leading to a highly anticipated peak time release. For his ‘SkyT’ remix, Sian amps up the theatrics, giving the track a dramatic dimension by infusing it with spacious reverb. Where Sian went down a more theatrical avenue, Ruiz plays down the emotion. Victor Ruiz’ take on ‘SkyT’ is a more stripped down approach, minimizing the elements and keeping the focus on the rolling bassline

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional. 

Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

Italian acclaimed DJ/producer Frankyeffe is back on Reload Black, once again delivering ounces of groove through his brand new single, tilted 'Illusion'.

The track starts off with a stomping bassline laced with looped-out vocal snippets, while frantic claps and busy arrangement set the tone, leaving metallic percussion to provide the momentum and evolving synths to reinforce the energetic vibe. Things get kicked up a notch when tasty chords are employed, leaving just enough space for the hypnotic atmospherics to ensure a jet-back ride into the night.

Bruxelles,Belgium based Massimo DaCosta & Vernon Bara, aka Raw District, make their Selador debut with an EP overflowing with both style and substance. Following recent releases on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Moon Harbour and Souvenir, the duo have made quite an impact since their first outing only 3 years ago and their growing reputation continues here.

Their two original contributions on this EP demonstrate the pair’s ability to switch effortlessly between light and shade. From the brooding melancholy of Taking You Down which features the sumptuous vocal of Jinadu to the sinister robotic tech of Monday Mood these guys can definitely make the rough with the smooth.

In true Selador style we’ve also assembled a dream team of remixers that takes the release positively stratospheric. The collective powers of Animal Trainer, Metodi Hristov and Habischman are on full display for all to see and hear. Buckle up! 

And with that, the stars align once more. Just how they should be.

The collaboration sees the two California-bred collaborators collaborating with a rapper named “Rossirock”, whom they chose after rejecting every last member of Twin Turbo’s in-house stable of MCs, who it seems will continue to do office chores in exchange for the possibility of someday lending their unique lyrical perspectives to a fun and modern club track.

The two original tracks were completed in early 2016, but we decided to hold out until our top remixer choices came through, and you’ll no doubt agree it was worth the wait you couldn’t possibly have known about. Cassy delivers what can only be described and understood and enjoyed as a “low-slung after-hours groover,” while Kenny Glasgow simply does his thing, which is exactly what we wanted as we are decidedly not in the business of trying to make Kenny Glasgow be anything other than Kenny Glasgow, no matter what you may have been led to think.
