The duo of Swiss Bryan Coletta and Uruguayan Emiliano Haberli break down Diawara's masterpiece, piquing its brokenness to recreate an experience from a new perspective, maintaining focus on its gripping Bambara lyrics, the timelessness of traditional African percussion, versatility of tribal rhythms and the ubiquity of migration not only in the composer's narrative but in a global context.

Gallery is a label without sonic restrictions, a music spot powered by reactions to an array of different sounds. Encapsulating this sentiment is Roy Blues (Ryan D’Sylva), who’s music could be likened to an aerial journey above a stunning landscape. The Melbourne producer changes heights and moods at will, ducking and weaving between a spectrum of feels. 
Be it tastes of euphoria to dark and haunting portrayals, these tracks are deliberate club rollercoasters. With nods from RUFUS DU SOL, DJ Boring, CC: DISCO and Roland Tings plus radio support from Triple J, FBI, RRR, Dublab and NTS it’s become obvious that what this guy is creating, speaks to the electronic community at large. The ‘Brain Wax’ EP is audio with braun, a sweeping electronic experience that’s difficult to ignore. 
With a professional background as a drummer, it's no surprise percussion comes to the fore in the project. With no better example of this than in his live show, where Ryan jumps between his synth station and a full live drum kit in a truly immersive performance. Isolation inspired Ryan to showcase his live prowess with an incredible live stream, professionally filmed with full production from his living room. When we’re allowed back into club spaces, it’ll be scary good to see what Roy Blues has in store. 
The EP curtain raiser ‘Heatwave’ is a hypnotic treatment, a clinic in slow techno. Next up is ‘Flashpoint’, a track purpose built for dance. Interstellar chords dart their way around rising pads and siren combinations while ‘Flashpoint’ does not let up, a record bubbling with adrenaline. Roy’s third instalment and first single ‘Brain Wax’ waxes and wanes, a wailing spell cast by a producer who’s not afraid to tackle obscure tones. This cut’s destined for 
the wee hours. Rounding things out is ‘Supernova’, a winding road of rattling percussion and dense synth play. Imagine a dramatic chase through space and this’d be its score.
The design for GLRY002 comes from prolific Melbourne designer Bradley Pinkerton. Having developed a core following in the Australian underground sphere, Bradley’s designs have since been globally applauded, leading to recent projects with Harry Styles, Kelsey Lu and Justin Bieber. The EP artwork is inspired by rolling textures and blooming flowers. The tracks are audibly rich and billowing which is a strong theme throughout the artwork.

The Cobra extends its skin to welcome Benedikt Frey and Yu Su to the Siamese Twin records family. Exploring and remixing two original tracks of Mogambo's Cobra EP, Frey and Su contribute tracks to this a deep-red spiced up marbled 10". 

Yu Su transforms Jeena from the original slow burner into a ravey, jungle slugger that leaves one in a lucid early morning after hours dream. Fusing stomping tribal rhythms and haunting synth pads, combined with the hypnotizing vocals of Thai artist Chucheewa, she morphs the track into an exploration of a tripped out mind.

Benedikt Frey reworks the relatively straightforward Matum into a musical multi-dimensional maze opening a wormhole for cats to enter space. A spiritual and trippy puzzle that never seems to end and sheds confusion, leaving one to wonder if there is any way out of this trip monster. An ideal collage of sounds perfectly shaped as a halftime dubby re-interpretation.

Across the release, eighteen artists explore the breadth of the Australian electronic music landscape. From gentle piano compositions, to subtle downtempo nested amongst techno-tinged drum tracks, electro expeditions and so much more… Devoted listeners are joined by new producers, friends and some of our most aspired Australian producers to form this exciting release. 

100% of proceeds will be donated to Aborigial Legal Services; based in Redfern it is the first Aboriginal Legal Service in Australia, and the first free legal assistance service in the country.

PS005 - Various Artists - PROXIMITY

Ran by Karima F and visual artist Ida Ekblad, Oslo-based Schloss Records is not only a record label but also an art gallery. With each release sporting grandiose aesthetics from Ida, as a platform Schloss continues to catch both eyes and ears in equal measure.

Their next offering comes from Mr. Timothy Crombie, most commonly known as A Psychic Yes. Entitled ' That Swamp Feeling', the EP features Bristol's Hodge on the remix.

Whilst the original brims with raw drum patterns and steel pan melody, Hodge brightens up the arrangement filling space with airy synth tones and his well-known preference for Jurassic wildlife samples.

Following the devastating explosion at the Port of Beirut on August 4, Ma3azef teamed up with New York-based mastering engineer Heba Kadry to curate a compilation by regional and international musicians to raise funds for the continuous relief work being done on the ground in Beirut to help those who have been failed by the Lebanese state.

Today, we're happy to announce two additional remixes to be added to the compilation: ZULI's Kiwii, remixed by El Kontessa; Deena Abdelwahed's Wein El Malayeen, remixed  by Ancient Methods.

The 19-track compilation includes contributions by the likes of Fatima Al Qadiri, Nicolás Jaar, ZULI, Slikback, and others. Bringing sounds together from the different crevices of electronic music, it is a humble attempt to galvanize musicians and listeners into supporting a city that has been integral in shaping the region’s contemporary music scene.

All proceeds from the sales of the compilation are going to local initiatives to provide assistance to those affected, they will be divided between Fundraising Campaign for the Arts and Culture Community in Beirut organized by AFAC; Beirut Musicians' Fund organized by Tunefork Studios, and Beit el Baraka.

Brother Nebula first burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut release on Legwork titled A Brief History Of Lasers. At the time, there wasn’t much information regarding the identity of the unknown producer except for a collaboration with San Francisco-based maestro Solar earlier that year. The only thing fans had to judge him by were his tracks and clear penchants for crafting atmospheric breakbeat tunes. The mystery surrounding the artist was almost inspiring – especially during a time when musicians are expected to share more of themselves than ever.

Brother Nebula would continue putting out records under this curious cloud of secrecy – later joining forces with the likes of Nick Höppner’s Touch From A Distance for his Going Clear EP. However, near the end of 2020, as Brother Nebula was set to share his full-length album The Physical World, rumors started to circulate on who the musician might be…

Although it might not come a surprise to some,  the man behind all the haze is veteran producer and mix engineer Lance Descardi! In this special edition of MIXED BY, Mr. Descardi puts together a selection of some of his major influences while sharing details about his unlikely journey in the music industry – a journey that transformed a budding DJ from Dallas into a guy Defected Records run to when they need to finish a track. For all you aspiring producers out there, this is one you’ll want to read from start to finish!

Chang and Eng, born in 1811 in Siam (nowadays Thailand), were the first documented conjoined twin brothers. Their fame propelled the expression “Siamese Twins” to become synonymous for conjoined twins. It is also a record label based in Bangkok run by Sunju, Johan, Taychin and Yoshi. A home for authentic, tribally rooted sounds introducing Asian artists and creating symbiotic dialogues with producers around the globe.
