Ádhamh is a DJ/Producer currently based in West Clare. After spending many years in the club circuit in Galway, he founded an independent record label, Faoi Thalamh Records in 2020; the vision of which was to establish a community of underground artists that work primarily in electronic music. His latest release ''Nebula'', has recently premiered on Four Four magazine. The track is a love-letter to old-school sci-fi inspired techno; Taking inspiration from titans such as Jeff Mills and Basic Channel, Ádhamh wanted to capture that signature sound of the Detroit-Berlin fusion that began to emerge in the 90's. 

For this iteration of the RLSD podcast, Ádhamh provides us with a 100% Vinyl mix, toeing the line between spaced out Detroit classics and modern hypnotic techno: ''I wanted to explore a psychedelic/hallucinogenic side of techno for this mix, with the flow of the music mirroring the different key stages of a trip. Spaced out techno for the onset, more challenging atmospheres for the peak and a nice break of tension for the return.''

The house music virus caught Yash somewhere in 1992 after hearing Twin Freaks from Gateway Experience. This has laid the foundation for introducing himself in harder genres at first. Gabber, early rave and hardtrance, which were very hot during the 90’s in the Netherlands. Gradually other styles filtered into his taste after visiting house parties in the early 00’s, such as techno and freakier kinds of house music. The endless rhythms of techno was what really changed his vision of what he liked and decided to buy turntables and a mixer to play tracks that he didn’t heard much on parties and in mixes of other DJ’s. 

After discovering electroclash and productions by The Hague based producer Alden Tyrell he decided playing only techno was a bit too shallow for his taste. After discovering CBS (Cybernetic Broadcasting System, the precursor of Intergalactic FM) he heard tracks Shake by Bombers, Sweet Dynamite by Claudia Barry and Patrick Cowley’s Megatron Man he immediately fell in love with the groovy rhythms, orchestral parts and luscious voices of disco. This left the same imprint on people that techno and house did, but years before! 

After discovering this trove of known and unknown gems he really caught the Westcoast sound virus, electro hip-hop, acid house, wave, funk, experimental electronics, nothing could quench his thirst for new music. The fresh approach of continuously introducing new and old music and blending genres into his sets makes him a versatile DJ for who genres don’t matter. Everything is a sort of reproduction of what came before in music but in a form that stayed true to the originators. They did what they felt or thought was good, Yash follows that spirit. Staying true to whatever he likes and keeping his skills on point by doing transitions that other might not do.
