The techno label headquartered in the Netherlands called Consumed Music shows once again why it has been impacting the scene with another strong outing after including works by artists such as Stanislav Tolkachev to Oliver Deutschmann.

Episode 149 of their catalogue welcomes back Colombia’s top talent Esteban Miranda and another noteworthy addition to his impressive body of work. Prior to this, he has released his electrifying music on labels such as Paula Cazenave’s Devotion, Robert Hoff’s trau-ma, Michele Mausi’s [R]3volution, Jewel Kid’s Alleanza, and Moddullar’s INNSIGNN. His debut album titled Escape continues to prove his rise as an exciting producer who delivers quality techno ideas in both form and function.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the track “SCL” that is a twisted and hypnotic trip. The relentless and rippling, modular hook is utterly mesmerising in its frequencies and delivery, where additional analogue textures create flutters of detail around its source. The delicate beat carries things forward nicely, later letting the vibe breathe and morph for the breakdown creating a satisfying cocoon of sonic pleasure.

The month of June will be a bit special! Malmö Techno Tales will become Gothenburg Techno Tales this month, so we will get a very good insight into what's happening on the west coast!

For this episode we have Penhai kun. German born with kurdish roots, Penhai_kun is an emerging name in the Gothenburg Techno scene. Having started his DJing journey in 2016, he has featured in various lineups and different projects across Sweden and back on his home turf in Germany. His latest project involves the event collective ODDONECREW, which has quickly established itself in Gothenburg by inviting DJs from Sweden, Germany, and the UK to provide hard but yet playful grooves with a touch of nostalgia for 90´s techno. 
Since childhood Penhai Kun is musically drawn to everything old school. His fascination for 90´s hip hop is where Penhai_kun found his love for drum patterns, which later has shaped his style in Techno. His sound nowadays is described as provocative and escalating, bringing punching drum patterns and groovy melodies to his sets.

The nice thing with longer sets is that they give you the opportunity to explore more destinations and let you play more with building different energy levels, which is what I tried in this set! Going from my signature grooves to more hypnotic elements, from murkier sounds to cleaner sounds, with a red thread along the ride!

Q: What made you start DJing?
A: I have my background in Västerås where many of my friends where part of the local underground scene. Since it was a small city everything was DIY and that approach got me DJing, and in the end also arranging my own events!

Q: Describe your style in three words.
A: Groovy Provocative Engaging

Q: Your best set in 2023/2024?
A: My best set must have been at Bounce in Gothenburg! The whole day was a vibe, with friends featuring on the lineup, and a really engaged Dancefloor that had fun and was not afraid to show it! This mood transferred over to me and I had so much fun playing as well and we had this interactive process going on! The night had a really intimate and lovely energy to it and the DJs after me really killed it as well!

Q: A hidden gem in Gothenburg that you would like to share?
A: The Bounce event series in Gothenburg! Even if it is not my music per se I’m really amazed by the arrangers dedication to their musical style, and every party I have been to has been a vibe!
