The announcement of Murdock’s album sent shockwaves throughout the wider world of electronic music, and not just drum & bass; that’s because he’s reigned supreme over the music circuit for years, heading up Belgium’s Rampage Festival and helping thousands of ravers worldwide enjoy some of their favourite artists, alongside the best technics live spaces have seen. 
But he’s also dedicated as much of his time to his own sonic art, the type of has already been unveiled across a variety of mainstay drum & bass labels. Although for his landmark album, he returns to Viper, a label which is celebrating fifteen years of its history with an exciting addition to their catalogue. After already dropping Murdock’s first single ‘Holding On’ earlier this summer, the electric collaboration with James Marvel, he’s set to revisit ‘Stronger’ with brand new single ‘Dark Cloud’ ft. Dynamite MC. 

Dynamite MC is one of the many renowned featuring artists who’ve made an appearance throughout Murdock’s ‘Stronger’ LP. He adds his tell-tale vocals to a track which takes you through the darker side of Murdock’s production; the flipside of records like ‘Holding On’. Flipping drum patterns and a foreboding intro takes you up into its first climatic breakdown. Although not without the synths which are a signature of Murdock’s production, there’s a moodiness that seeps through its every layer. Murdock shows that ‘Stronger’ will be an exploration of the diversity he’s worked on since he first began making music and this makes an appearance throughout the album. ‘Holding On’ and ‘Dark Cloud’ are just two instances of this versatility. 

Viper deliver yet another groundbreaking record and in doing so, they prove why they’ve managed to build over a decade’s worth of quality releases.

If you caught one of Technique International Sound's scorching festival appearances this summer, anticipation for this release will already be off the charts. Now, fresh from tearing events like Rampage and Audioriver to pieces, the elite production force of Drumsound & Bassline Smith and Tantrum Desire are back with some brand new fire. 

From the darkside drama of the opening pads, stretched and deformed over twisted squelches of bass and ominous metronomic percussion hits, it's clear that 'The Creator' is a monstrous tune. When huge layers of orchestral instrumentation build the epicness even further and we're drawn inexorably towards a drop that you just know is going to have ravers demanding the wheel-up.

Given who these producers are, we should all know to brace ourselves for an explosion of bass. Seriously, though, there's no acceptable level of readiness for the intense, staccato strikes of bassline that drive this tune. That raw low-end energy, punctuated with temperature-raising flecks of modulation, all held in check by the expertly-crafted rolling drums is going to see this tune dropped, doubled, and spun back in dances everywhere.

Drumsound & Bassline Smith and Tantrum Desire's last collaboration, 2018's 'The Bomb', is still lighting up raves and airwaves in the sets of A-list deejays, demonstrating a longevity that's rarely seen nowadays. 'The Creator' might be the first release under the Technique International Sound name, but the legend, the history, the pedigree is well-established. Now it's time for a new chapter.

0101 Music began its journey in 2018, yet two years later it’s still proving release after release that they’ve been able to keep up with the contemporary changes across drum & bass which have ensured the genre’s longevity. Launched by Maztek, one of the defining forces within its darker underbelly, the first part of its catalogue came in the form of his own ‘Warpath’ LP, setting the tone for what would follow in its footsteps. Maztek has continued to uphold the standards he spearheaded with the label’s first release and since then, he’s introduced a wealth of talent to channel the 0101 moniker through their own skillsets. However, for 0101 Music’s first release of 2020, Maztek draws once again for two of his own selections, tracks which identify why Maztek has held his ground throughout the span of his career success; something which is continuing with this forthcoming release.
A two-track selection, Maztek’s forthcoming single detonates on impact, in a way that Maztek has refined throughout every delivery he’s unleashed onto his vast fan base. ‘Arps and Stuff’ sees a slight divergence from the technoid soundscape which his music can sometimes take hold of and instead introduces itself through plucking melodies and strings of rolling sonics. However, the tell-tale Maztek breakdowns kick into play as it eventually drops to subterranean levels and you’re left free-falling amongst the producer’s carefully honed drum work.
On the reverse, prepare to be brought into the world of ‘R3537’, a track which more aligns with the typical Maztek flavours. Amongst expertly engineered twists and turns throughout its bassline, which cuts through the track’s core amongst sliced and diced drum patterns, Maztek ensures this track explodes when kicked into gear. He attacks the aural synapses once more with his intense craftmanship proving that even years on from his first composition, he remains at the helm of the gloomier waters which flooded drum & bass in the 90s.

Viper’s newest and most mysterious signing Giganti is back on his home label with yet another dancefloor destroyer, this time in the form of ‘Olympa’. Following a massive 2019 including singles ‘The Face Off’, ‘Peacock Strut’, ‘Miss Foxy’, ‘Big Cohones’, ‘Rico Law’, as well as his highly sought after bootleg of Kanye West’s ‘Homecoming’ and recent release ‘Danger Mouse’, Giganti has been the talk of the town and with good reason. With little known about the producer other than his ability to produce consistent top quality banger after banger, the mystery surrounding Giganti has only added to his appeal in the scene, and this latest track is no exception.

A cinematic opening showcases the mysterious producer’s softer side as he gently eases the listener in with soaring melodies and a mesmerizing vocal hook, all the while teasing the rumbling bass that can be expected from Giganti. Proving time and time again that he is the master of suspenseful build-ups, Giganti takes his time painting the scene with elegance and grace before dropping into pure carnage.

In signature Giganti fashion, the drop is loud and unapologetic, pumped full of adrenaline – this is high-octane, no holds barred drum & bass at its finest. Energetic, bold, and brazen yet still with an elegant twist, the track is arguably the producer’s best work to date and a strong addition to the growing Viper catalogue.
Another huge release signifying the huge year in store for Viper, Giganti has once again proven why he was so highly sought after to join the label and has made such a strong addition to the Viper roster.

Within the gaps in the cosmos and spread out amongst the stars exists a single force, one as equally integral to the worlds it envelopes as the very matter of which they are made up as it is antithetical to their existence. In its base state it is inert, idling within the dark corners of the universe with unparalleled destructive potential It does not rest alone within these far reaches of the universe however, for therein further lurk imperceptible beings capable of binding its discrete yet devastating power into weapons capable of sundering entire worlds. Though few of their ilk remain, such beings are driven by inhuman intentions, with an unending hunger for the destruction borne of their malevolent craft. Their machinations can only be glimpsed through those most frightening of words, and their desires can only bring about the most cataclysmic of events. Naught but for one tale of their kind remains and it is not one told lightly, for the fear of attracting their attention comes at its every telling.

It was once that there was a sister planet to our world, inhabited by a people much like us. Through manipulation of that same cosmic force, we had created gateways between our worlds, and traded often in the unique resources of which each planet possessed. The civilizations of both worlds thrived in this ancient time, as each learned and shared with the other through their unique interconnectedness. Yet all of this was watched from afar by pairs of jealous eyes, set within heads that wished not to see others learn the secrets of their craft. Thus it was on that fateful day when the moon came before the sun that all amongst both worlds beheld a terrible sight. Towering within the void that separated them was an indescribable creature that bellowed a single phrase: one world would end, one would be saved, and their link would never be again. Then in an instant upon our sister world came its fury, rending it to pieces as though wielding in its hand the LOBZIK which you know. In mere moments the link had been severed by the creature’s cataclysmic power, and in the sky above lay the fragments of the world to which it had once led. With the showing of the sun the creature was suddenly gone, it’s message made clear by what it had done. Thus it is that I tell this story with care, wary that I am of the hand which brought the LOBZIK to bear.

PSYNCHRO deliver their debut EATBRAIN release with the LOBZIK EP, following their appearance on the label’s DIVERGENCE II compilation which released last year. Featuring the trio’s jagged edged sonics and collaborations with further rising artists including Ridley Dynamics & Toyfon, LOBZIK sees the Russian trio tear their way to the front of the EATBRAIN horde with a four track EP that leaves nothing behind.

The fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE alight once more with the arrival of the WARHEAD EP, the latest release from rising Russian duo DESPERSION on NEUROPUNK RECORDS. Established in 2017, the duo have seen previous releases on a variety of labels including Ignescent, 0101 and Kill Tomorrow, within which they have displayed their development of a style that blends complex melodic motifs with aggressive percussive and bassline sequences for a synthesis formed of these two often disparate sounds. Now making their NEUROPUNK RECORDS debut, DESPERSION deliver four tracks in this signature style to create the latest set of auditory weapons straight from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Opened by the minor chords and arpeggios of the title track of the same name, the WARHEAD EP quickly erupts with low end weight leavened by the interspersion of melodic reprisals of its opening theme. The deceptively named PEACE which follows provides a slice of scathing neurofunk marked by the tonalities of the distorted hornlike synth that blasts above its rapidly moving bassline. OFFENSIVE next delivers an explosive barrage of transient percussive impacts that fall with perfectly planned precision amongst the tracks chaotic upper atmosphere. Closing the EP is I NEED YOU NOW, which departs from the hard charging energy of its predecessors to deliver a flowing vocal cut emblematic of DESPERSION’s melodic abilities.

With the WARHEAD EP, DESPERSION deliver a dynamic debut on NEUROPUNK RECORDS, showing a deft ability to craft beautiful melodic sequences and works of utmost sonic aggression in equal measure, marking themselves as a duo to watch as they emerge from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

It was in 1998 that Sick Run’s passion for Drum & Bass and broken beats took off. Inspired by
artists such as Bryan Gee or Mampi Swift, Sick Run slowly but surely realised that simply listening
to tunes and mixes couldn’t satisfy his needs to be a part of the scene. So three years later, in 2001,
he started practising on the decks. Soon the Landau based DJ regularly released mixes, ranging
from Liquid over Neurofunk to Jump Up. Shortly after, his work was rewarded when he was invited
to play at various parties in the area.
Since then Sick Run has also started producing Drum & Bass music and boasts releases on
SDD Enterprise (UK), Stickybass Records (BE), and  (Germany). His tunes
vary in style and are proof that Sick Run’s music cannot be categorised into one subgenre of Drum
& Bass alone. Sick Run doesn’t let style restrict his creativity and aims to invent himself anew in
every piece of music he creates. The only rules that apply to his sound are high quality production
values and a vibrant flavour to ensure happy listeners. From dancefloor-smashing anthems to relaxed
Sunday afternoon vibes – Sick Run offers it all! Deep and dark basslines as well as funky and
melodic grooves or the wobbling filth of new school Jump Up can be found in Sick Run’s productions.
Sick Run’s open mind for every style of Drum & Bass is also reflected in his DJ sets and is
what makes him so unique.
Since 2011 Sick Run is also a resident DJ at the Woodbass Sessions events in Sinsheim and the
host of Sick Run’s Night Bass which started in 2012. Reflecting Sick Run’s versatile approach
to Drum & Bass, Night Bass offers a diverse lineup of established and up and coming artists
that represent the whole spectrum of the music.
