'Perfect Secrecy Forever' taken from 'Intercepts', a split album between Pye Corner Audio and Not Waving. 

Taking inspiration from the world of espionage, most specifically spy rings, both artists provide four tracks each, creating a thrilling musical call and response between these kindred producers.

Some of the world’s greatest espionage stories involve Spy Rings. From the Rosenbergs to the Cambridge Five and the Duquesne case, these are stories that haunt the annals of the covert world and remain shrouded in mystery and fascination to this day.

Clandestine spirits permeate these eight tracks of dreamlike industrial techno, impressionist synth burbles, fragmented post-modern ambient and cosmic sci-fi adventure.

Self Sabotage

"Hizo" is the second track of Amina Cyu´s forthcoming album, The 39 Steps, to be released on February 29th on label Static Discos. The LP features ambient music that is both sensibly abrasive and ethereal. These works feature sounds that are influenced by the early days of industrial music in which the harsh sounds are transformed into auditory embraces that provide a sense of well-being.

This first full-length album by the Mexican producer is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film, "The 39 Steps,"  a work of fiction that portrays protagonists who are unjustly framed. The film is a suspenseful portrayal of how personal and political issues can become scandalously intertwined. However, almost a century has passed since the film's premiere, and the popularization of the internet has subverted the concepts of privacy and espionage, easy access to information, and social media. The experiences of false accusations and persecution have also taken on different social and psychological dimensions. Despite these changes, the sentiment expressed by the persecuted man in "The 39 Steps" remains valid, especially in an emblematic scene of the film:

“I’ve known what it is to feel lonely and helpless
And to have the whole world against me
And those are things than no man or woman ought to feel
And I ask your candidate
And all those who love their fellow men
To set themselves resolutely
To make this world a happier place to live in
A world where no nation plots against nation
Where no neighbor plots against neighbor
Where there is no persecution or hunting down
Where everybody gets a square deal and a sporting chance
And where people try to help and not to hinder
A world form which suspicion and cruelty and fear
Have been forever banished”

"The eighth record of the Ukrainian label Muscut bursts into consciousness like a psychedelic van which is flying at all pairs, leaving behind a sultry cloud. Meet the Chillera - new girl-band from Odessa. Three young witches mixed together the berries of surf rock, dub-rhythms ripened on the southern soil and greens of funky ornaments. It sounds juicy, naturalistic, relaxed and, most importantly, fresh. Heady maiden trio plays bluntly, from the heart, unexpurgated spicy dub music without a single synthesizer, only a duo of bass and electric guitars in a company with percussion. The very title of the headline track - SCHAX, sounds simultaneously as a spell and as an order.
