Yet Tara is the source of everything.” This quotation is adapted from the Tao de Ching by Laozi and encapsulates how we need to think in order to approach Tara. Rinpoche introduces us to Tara and guides us to make a connection with her, both through elaborate pujas and in simple, unelaborated, daily practice.

Nagarjuna's Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, Kathmandu, Nepal, 1-7 October 2015

The Buddha told Shariputra that the best and only way to understand shunyata is through devotion. Talking about it is a waste of time. Rinpoche advises us to do things such as go to a stupa, offer a flower and say, "May I understand this truly non-arising". Offer another flower, "May all sentient beings understand truly non-existing, truly non-arising".

佛教中觀派祖師龍樹菩薩提出了兼容並蓄的緣起性空論，是我們了解佛教哲學的關鍵思想家。其著作《六十頌如理論》為中觀應成派的基本論典，以六十頌説明緣起，常被引用，是佛弟子了解緣起和中觀要義的重要論典。

宗薩欽哲仁波切于2015年10月在怙主頂果欽哲法王圓寂紀念日之際，在尼泊爾加德滿都，以7天的時間，藉此討論般若智慧的開示，供養文殊上師。

The triple gem refers to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha: the three pillars of the buddhist path. When we take refuge in the three jewels we let go of our old values and step outside our comfort zone to begin to deconstruct the paradox of how we exist as a mass of tangled emotions, while at the same time we are the Buddha. Ultimately there is only one jewel, which we will eventually have to discard, just as we abandon the boat we have taken once we reach the other shore. Letting go of the path will be the hardest and most interesting part of our journey.

A unique feature of the Buddhadharma is the seemingly paradoxical interdependence of wisdom and method. As method is more tangible, it is easy to forget about wisdom. Meditation, for example, has become a popular method for stress relief. But making our lives more comfortable is absolutely not the purpose of Buddhism. We are entangled in habitual patterns and these habits, as they become solid, become an organized and rigid system. Using wisdom we can try to destabilise our habits and for this we need method. There are infinite methods to choose from, one of which is chanting OM MANI PADME HUM, the mantra of compassion associated with Avalokiteśvara. On a profound level, chanting this mantra creates a vibration in our mind, prana and chakras which will help to deconstruct our habitual patterns and enable us to see the truth.

Wisdom and compassion or “method” are fundamental components of the Buddha Dharma. A sound, sober path will include both and balancing these two is always the biggest challenge. Without method, the path becomes abstract and theoretical. But methods, such as discipline, morality and ethics, without wisdom lead to righteousness and puritanical attitudes. The driving force to make us seek something spiritual is our fundamental wish not to suffer. Yet it is difficult to identify suffering and hard to accept that so-called happiness, success and good times will all result in suffering. One of the best ways to analyse suffering and the causes of suffering is to explore the techniques of wisdom and compassion. We need both: that is what the Buddha taught.

Heart Sutra Teachings & Meditation, 1 February 2015 - Hong Kong, China

The Heart Sutra or Prajñāpāramitā is the quintessence of the Mahayana teachings. This sutra can protect us from all the problems caused by our deluded conceptions of this mundane world. Our projections lead to action and action to reaction, to create an ordered system: samsara. “Form is emptiness, emptiness is form” gives us the tools to destabilise samsara and find liberation, but we can only experience this emptiness directly through practice. Meditation is a method for us to access the wisdom of emptiness but eventually must itself be deconstructed, just as a boat is abandoned once we reach the other shore.
