Steph Mag – 30 Years of Techno: Depth, Rhythm, and Emotion

Steph Mag is one of those rare artists in the electronic music world who has dedicated the past 30 years to performing and producing techno on a global scale. Having played across all continents for a wide range of organizations, clubs, and communities, he has consistently asserted his unique musical vision.

Today, his artistic universe unfolds in two distinct directions: one with a slower BPM, featuring deep, hypnotic, immersive techno; the other, a more intense, hard-hitting Hardgroove style—percussive, powerful, and uncompromising.

Steph Mag has always championed a solid, profound form of techno, rooted in a rich and nuanced musical spectrum. His sets are sonic journeys between shadow and light, far removed from the beaten paths of the mainstream. A child of the '80s, he was shaped by the sounds of synth-pop pioneers like Depeche Mode and experimental electronic icons like Kraftwerk, weaving a touch of nostalgia, voice textures, and melodic depth into his performances.

A trained drummer with a deep passion for rhythm, Steph Mag favors a percussive, groove-oriented approach to techno, crafted for the dancefloor. Known for his powerful and unpredictable Hardgroove sets, he stands out with live improvisations, dynamic mixing, and a signature technique that’s all his own.

With numerous DJ residencies in France and abroad, he has shared the stage with legendary figures of the electronic scene such as Laurent Garnier, Marco Carola, Gene Farris, Bob Sinclar, Manu le Malin, Liza 'N' Eliaz, Scan X, and many more.

Beyond clubs and festivals, Steph Mag has also made his mark in more refined and laid-back settings, performing sunset and lounge sets in prestigious venues across Asia—including Bali, Ko Samui, and Bangkok—where he skillfully adapts his sound to more contemplative atmospheres, always with finesse and musical integrity.

Honduran musician, producer, and songwriter born in Tegucigalpa. Musically active since age 12, has participated in local bands such as Bloody Mary and Ant1v1ru5 as vocalist and guitar player respectively, but decided to leave the post-hardcore scene indefinitely to work on his own material, which consists of acoustic musical pieces he has been composing since age 16. His latest project stirs his creative odyssey towards the electronic dance scene as a DJ known as ShaValien. His musical roots and influences carry the crowd on a magical carpet toward the cosmos within his Global, Ethnic, and Progressive House Mixes, with a hint of Melodic and Psychedelic Trance grooves.

Activo musicalmente desde los 12 años, la música lo lleva a participar en agrupaciones musicales como las bandas Bloody Mary y Ant1v1ru5 entre otras, aunque decide dejar el mundo del post-hardcore indefinidamente para trabajar en su propio material, que consiste en piezas musicales que ha venido componiendo desde los 16 años. Su mas reciente proyecto como DJ conocido como "ShaValien" lleva a su odisea creativa a transportar a la audiencia sobre una alfombra mágica hacia el cosmos con sus sets de Global, Ethnic y Progressive House con matices de Melodic y Psychedelic Trance.

Nobbing on the foward motion of breakbeats you begin to understand Tiggnacious beginnings of future records many of which were born of San Francisco and surrounding cities...Hardkiss Bros..Wicked Crew....Hawke...then deeper yet to enjoy Rabbit in the Moon....Bringing Drum and Bass into the fold, my favorite, we revert into oblivion minding the the sacred past with respect to old school cats of Rap funky legends Eric B. and Rakim{Paid in Full} and other suprises to encounter....Keep the BASS UP....And get Tiggitty in your Brain......Sorry for the breaks in the mix I need to polish those out and will someday.....all mixes recorded live, no practice of set, just a lot of collecting listening, and recently in the last 9 months understanding a bit about the Denon DJ Prime 4....Having fun...Dreaming in Sounds....
