Tempo e Espaço: duas dimensões relativas e profundamente entrelaçadas. 

Em sua teoria revolucionária da relatividade, Einstein propôs que estas duas dimensões são inerentemente relacionadas e constituem um continuum de espaço-tempo. Séculos antes dele, os Incas tinham uma ideia semelhante: eles acreditavam que Tempo e Espaço tinham o mesmo significado (Pacha), que se funde em Pachamama, nossa Mãe Cósmica e doadora da vida e fertilidade. 

A América Latina se une e mostra uma nova cena musical, forte, independente, interligada e conectada, quebrando barreiras geográficas, criando novos caminhos e novas conexões. 
É com essa ideia que a Tropical Twista lança sua terceira compilação: uma viagem entre o tempo e espaço pela América Latina, permeando sua cultura, ancestralidade, identidade, história e a forma de ver o mundo através da música - um resgate e ao mesmo tempo uma visão sobre o continente Latino-Americano.

For this our sixth Botanas single series we have the pleasure to present two stunning original tracks and one beautiful edit from Canadian producer Oonga (who you might have spotted on our Mare Insularum compilation). Oonga is a DJ/producer from Montreal who works with Stonetree Records. 

Opener El Caracol is one of the most personal tracks the artist has ever made. It is based on a poem written by Eli´s (Oonga) dad and dedicated to him. It was written after the two of them had a really deep conversation about hidden pain and then months later his dad showed him the words, and he was extremely moved and so created this beautiful track. 

This inspiration came at the same time as Oonga's exposure to the neo-folkloric slow cumbia tech sound while travelling. He put the two together and this special Botanas was born. His dear friend Ana adapted the words into Spanish and sang the melodies (as well as doing the art). 

Oonga´s music captured our ears right away and these three tracks are the perfect soundtrack to the end of the summer for those of us in the norther hemisphere or to welcome the end of the Winter and brighter times for all those down south!

entusiasmado por el pronto descubrimiento ,bajo la presión q la altura ejercía sobre mi frágil pero bien aventurado cuerpo,rodeado de tierras ancestrales que revelaban ante mi, mi propia esencia. 

Tras años de obligarme a adoptar una realidad a la cual no le debía pertenencia , 
sumergido en visiones artificiales , proyectadas desde el ojo externo de la ignorancia. 

Después de despertar del profundo sueño que el soñador ignora. 

Se derraman las hermosas melodías que de las entrañas brotan, 
que se identifican con las raíces caladas en las tierras de donde un día floreció mi existencia. 

Reactivando memorias , emociones , lecciones que desde la infancia suprimidas yacían en silencio , recuperando así mi ser, mi sonido , mi nombre . 

Chibcha, el ritmo constante que resuena en cada palpitar de este templo , que conecta con la infancia y los caminos recorridos a lo largo de la experiencia humana que llamo vida , camino largo ,escabroso , de terrenos rocosos , agitados, llenos de emoción y vida. 

Un homenaje a los viejos sonidos y viejos maestros , a los amigos , los compañeros , a los que hoy no están , y los que aun no han llegado.. a los que a través del tiempo creen , crean , crían manteniendo costumbres, danzas , ritmos, que respetan la madre tierra , que aman su mas profunda pureza y se mantiene fuertes ante cualquier amenaza. 

Chibcha, un homenaje a la gran familia . gracias.

On the banks of the cold lagoon, the spicy sun and the majestic immensity, happy about this discovery, under the pressure that the height exerted on my fragile but well-adventurous body, surrounded by ancestral lands that revealed before me: my own essence. 

After years of forcing myself to adopt a reality to which I did not belong, submerged in artificial visions, projected from the outer eye of ignorance. 

I awoke from the deep dream that the dreamer ignores. The beautiful melodies that flow from the gut, which relate to the roots of the lands where one day my life flourished. 

Reactivating memories, emotions, lessons that were suppressed ever since childhood, lay in silence, thus recovering my being, my sound, my name. 

Chibcha, the constant rhythm that resonates in every heartbeat of this temple, which connects to the paths traveled along the human experience that I call life, long, rugged, rocky terrain, hectic, full of emotions… 

A tribute to the old sounds and old masters, to the friends, the companions, to those who are no longer here, and to those who have not yet arrived ... to those who, through time, believe, create, keep traditions alive, dances, rhythms, which respect mother earth and its deepest purity and remain strong in the face of any threat.

004 - Siempre He De Adorante (edit) - Marcelo Berges

'Campo Triste' está inspirado en el famoso tema ecuatoriano "La Bocina', en este caso (sample) interpretado por Soledad Morales, cantante invidente quien radicó en Sigsig, pequeño pueblo de la provincia del Azuay. No fue sorpresa encontrar que el productor ecuatoriano Pancho Piedra, habitante de Cuenca, Ecuador, se encontrara trabajando en una re interpretación de este tema. Tiene sentido, toda una generación dedicada a la radio, transmitiendo joyas resguardadas en las bóvedas de 'Radio Tomebamba'. 

Así continua la familia Piedra, en poder de antiguos discos que cuentan la historia de un Ecuador nostálgico, liderado en aquellas épocas por el timón y los arreglos de don Polibio Mayorga. Este es un homenaje contemporáneo sin duda, con el fin de rescatar ese anhelo sonoro de aquellos tiempos.

We are honoured to present a very special and very beautiful Botanas from the hand of Ecuadorian producers Nicola Cruz and Pancho Piedra. 

Campo Triste' is inspired by the famous Ecuadorian song "La Bocina", in this case with a sample from a version sung by Soledad Morales, a blind singer from Sigsig, a small town in the province of Azuay. It wasn't a surprise for Nicola to discover that Pancho Piedra, a fellow Ecuadorian producer living in Cuenca, was working on a reinterpretation of the song. Everything made sense - Piedra belonging to a generation that is dedicated to treasuring and transmitting musical gems from the vaults of the city's "Radio Tomebamba". 

In this way the story of the Piedra family continues, holding in their hands these old records that tell, with nostalgia, the history of Ecuador, led at the time by don Polibio Mayorga’s arrangements. 

While this is undoubtedly a modern tribute, it also captures and revives this nostalgic piece of musical longing from another time. 

This Botanas also features three precious remixes from fellow Ecuadorian Quixosis, Mexico's Jiony and Chile's Rodrigo Gallardo.

Barda is Cecilia Gebhard, argentinian producer and DJ from Buenos Aires Argentina. She builds tracks that has a lighten but also dark halo, focusing on the dancefloor as well as on what could be a contemplative listening. Her music is a fusion between organic and electronic textures, inspired by folklore of the world, techno and also stoner music. She has played at Fusion Festival in 2018 and has became part of the latinamerican downtempo ethnic wave.

[UNS#004] Barda - Viento

Boundary-pushing composer and sound designer Andi Otto returns with his new album ‘Rwandance’, which sees live instruments, studio recordings and sampled archival material melded together as part of an electrifying reimagining of the musical traditions of Rwanda.

‘Rwandance’ is a collaboration between Rwandan dancer and musician Evariste Karinganire and cello player and electronic music producer Andi Otto, brought together by a chance connection. Inspired by Steve Reich, Mark Pritchard’s Harmonic 313 and Otto’s mesmerising musical experiences touring India, Otto built software to translate the intensity of Karinganire’s hand claps into different synth notes - the structure and time signature of traditional Rwandan music providing the framework for Otto’s creations, new instruments and sounds incorporated into its parameters.

Otto follows a path similar to many producers from Latin America’s burgeoning electronic music scene but instead of using Andean folk music as a starting point, he reappraises Rwandan music mirroring traditional sounds but similarly, reimagined through a contemporary lens. ‘Rwandance’ follows Otto’s 2016 link-up with Indian singer and actress M.D. Pallavi and underground hit ‘Bangalore Whispers’, a showcase for his original approach to cross-cultural musical dialogue. He has since cemented that reputation with subsequent albums “Via” and “Bow Wave”, weaving global sounds into his distinct sonic approach.

Shika Shika is a home for music that combines organic and electronic sounds, a meeting place between the past and the future. (They also put an emphasis on supporting artists, splitting profits in their favour.) This chimes exactly with what Otto wanted to achieve in his collaboration with Karinganire, taking deeply-rooted traditions and giving them a new sonic make-up.
