14 Maagh (27th January 2022) marked the Janam Divas of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji . This Katha video by Giani Baljinder Singh Ji (Shaheedi Bunga UK) covers some facts on the Mahaan Jeevan of the great Brahamgiani, Scholar and Warrior. As a child, Baba Ji was brought to the sanctuary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Anandpur Sahib, where in a short period Baba Ji mastered languages such as Gurmukhi, Sanskrit, Braj Bhasha and Persian. Where it is a great task to master one language Baba Ji gained the Vidhya of all these languages in just three years, such was the Kirpa of Guru Sahib and Baba Ji’s dedication and love for Vidhya. When Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji started the writing of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Damdama Sahib taking 9 months and 9 days, Bhai Mani Singh Ji Shaheed was blessed to be the scribe, and Baba Deep Singh Ji was given the Seva of making the ink, kalam (bamboo pens) and preparing the kaagaz (paper) for Bhai Sahib Ji to use. Baba Ji along with Bhai Mani Singh Ji was part of the 48 Singhs who learnt the Santhia (correct pronunciation) and Arth (meanings) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji directly from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Afterwards, Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave the duty of continuing the teaching of this Brahm Vidhya to Bhai Mani Singh Ji and Baba Deep Singh Ji.

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥
ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਭ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈ ।
Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed;

ਮਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ 
remember the Name of the Lord of the Universe in your mind.

ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਸਫਲ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Meditation on the Lord is the only fruitful action. ||1||Pause||

ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਝੂਠ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਹ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ
Renounce pride, attachment, corruption and falsehood, and chant the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam.

ਮਨ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੈ ਚਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।੧।
O mortal, attach yourself to the Feet of the Saints. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਾਗੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹੁ ਜੋ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
God is the Sustainer of the world, Merciful to the meek, the Purifier of sinners, the Transcendent Lord God. Awaken, and meditate on His Feet.

ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੫੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗ ਪਏਗੀ ।੨।੪।੧੫੫।
