"Introspective (de)constructed nature"  was composed for the International Society Contemporary Music, World Music Days, 2020,  theme: "music eco system".  The original 6.1 channel version as a composed sensescape for the interactive "woollen sound organs" - installation. It was nominated by Nieuw Geneco (Dutch Composers). The 6.1 channel composition is an extended version adding further accents and details to each woollen sound organ, creating an intimate personal multi sensory hearing experience. 

The public can take and share the wearable “woollen sound organs” like woollen lungs, heart and liver while hearing and feeling the resonating organ sounds through their body; becoming performers themselves. It is offering the audience as active listeners a new approach for experiencing a musical landscape as “sensescape” by hearing with multiple senses and sharing a temporally “music ecosystem”.

“Tito Tombola, deep fake world premiere in the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam”, during corona lockdown, is (re)setting our idea of a premiere as event that can be real or faked and never took place. We had to trust eyes, ears in past times. In recent times fake news becomes more and more part of creative - and political powers. “Let us not know our ground in vain. Let us get used to our roads in fearlessly. Life is a tombola!” (Dutch). Radio, Soundcloud are perfect places creating imaginary, fake worlds. A deep faked “real” listening event will easy be remembered by our brains as “true”, when missing the sensory experience... ? Will it be able to change our ideas of musical live performance?

During a  walk in the city forest het Vliegenbos in Amsterdam North, the wearable multi-sensory tactile sound dog sculpture  produced immersive tangible composed sensescapes besides dialogues with dog owners about their dogs. composition for the "red sound blanket objects" - installation, presented in three little sleeping rooms of the Brotherhood house in Schoorl during the Schok art festival 2001. Schoorl is a little village near the sea with formerly a lot of sheep farmers. The tactile sonic installation existed of three "red blanket sound objects" of different size hanging in the sleeping rooms. The public who could walk around and touch the woollen sound objects, hearing and feeling the sounds of the origin: the production process of the "red woollen blanket" as part of Dutch sonic heritage.

This sensescape with soundscape of a cow shed I produced in 2019 but in 2022 the theme has become even more seriously urgent due to methane emissions, C02 - and  climate crisis; especially in Netherlands, Europe with (political) consequences for the farmers: Counting up and down... towards an uncertain ecological future for our planet.  1 2 3 4 5 What are we doing? How do we maintain biodiversity on this planet? 

Now a days the NASA (a.o.) is using satellites for monitoring the earth surface...

Astro Cows, Counting Up And Down

The Indonesian word “silaturahmi” means friendship, coming together in good relationship; “silat” reverse to martial arts as form of self-defense. The natural polyrhythms of a normal rain shower can be a (non)musical inspiring, soothing, relaxing or refreshing, a bless from nature, but .. more irregular and extreme and heavy rainfall during the Asian monsoon and around the world because of rising global temperatures, climate change caused by human activities, becomes destructive with increasing impact on people’s lives, (natural) environments, ecology, farmland, food supplied, etc. 

Together, in solidarity, we have to fight, defend, research, change habits, rebuild, nurse our homes and natural environments against global climate change.

A second more metaphorical layer of the composition is reflecting the proces of decolonization between Indonesian and The Netherlands (as past colonizer). By reviewing, relistening and sharing intertwined colonial past we can gain new respectful relationships….

The composition starts in the (sound) context of an exhibition with visitors in a Dutch heritage museum.

This version of: Sudden Daydream, (in)somnia (co)incidental Diversity composed for the ISCM World New Music Days 2024. It is one of the 6 nominated works by Nieuw Geneco, (Dutch Contemporary Composers). Unfortunately not selected for presentation during World Music Days on Faroe Islands in 2024... 

One day, two successive improvisations with percussion and vibraphone suddenly coincide, sliding over each other, reinforcing each other, moving their sounds back and forth, the chance-denying synthesis of melodies and rhythms in dialogue with the environment as a diverse ecological set of layered sounds. A sudden daydream as if sleep overtakes us or doesn't want to catch us anymore... Like an “anthropo(s)cene”, listening attentively to the changing soundscape. A musical wakeup call: the unexpected silent cry from the cymbal for preserving a layered bio diverse sounding ecology for future generations of all living species.

Ricardo Huisman is an Amsterdam based soundsculpture / installation artist, soundscape composer, community sound artist and artistic researcher. Inspired by Acoustic Ecology, Music Concrete, J. Cage, Avant-garde, Contemporary (Classical) Music, Sound- and Sense studies.  His installations can be experienced as multi-sensorial tactile interfaces. The “touchsound” produced by his “tactile sonic sculptures” includes composed soundscapes that reveal multiple associative dimensions, bodily sensations that could give rise to new spaces for imagination and playfull knowledge. Huisman invites people to interact within his community sound art projects, to become co-creators of their own “multisensorial hearing perspectives” and response-able and responsible joint owners of the sound habitat.
